Not really what I wanted to read today, that. Ha. I have considered the 43 as I have mentioned before. Having one of each would be perfect for the way I shoot, although it would probably get used instead of my M10 with 50mm Summilux and some of the images I have had from that recently have been really nice.
 
So woke up early (5.45am), sat at my desk with coffee, bright sunny start to day, 30 minutes later treated to Mist/Fog, rude to stay at my desk so ventured into the nearby fields. A further 20 mins and it was all gone :(

You make a compelling argument for both, as does all of the photos you post David.

I must admit I do have the issue that I’m not over keen on either 28mm or 40mm focal lengths which is a bit of an issue for me. :ROFLMAO:

I much prefer 35/50 overall as a match and think the nagging issue of not having those focal lengths if I went to the Q3(s) would eventually wear me down!

I’m also (for some reason) really emotionally tied to my M10-P even though it’s not often first choice when I go anywhere. Usually I want easy focussing, easy metering and so head out with the Zf or Z7ii.

One day I’ll make my mind up. :rolleyes:

I was a 35/50 photographer (spent 12 years shooting X100 variants, and still have an original X100) - it certainly took some adjustment to the Q3 28 - but what swayed it for me was that in vertical format, the width of the FOV is exactly the same as the GFX with the GF45mm (FF 35mm ish) due to the sensors being different formats 3:2 and 4:3 - cropping the Q3 28 to 5:4 actually is a slightly higher resolution image than a 5:4 crop on the GFX (50 variant) - the fact that the Leica was half the weight and could shoot at F1.7 was just the icing on the cake.

The Q3 43 was a bit of an accident, I was so frustrated with the CA on the Fuji XF35mm F1.4 and then to find it present on the newer XF33mm F1.4 was such a disappointment - I could have bought a ZF, but the rush of blood to the head meant that I just bought want I always knew I'd end up with (itches and scratching and all that). YOLO.

The 43mm lens is something else, I've never had a lens with such beutiful rendering - and given the price of Leica APO lenses, its like you get a free body.

I'm certainly not disappointed, though I have the occassional what have I done moment, I am having to sell a lot of Fuji X-mount ILC stuff to pay for the 43, but I'm retaining an X-T3 + 100-400.

I've spent years on equipment change cycles, but now I really want to get on with the photography so I'm effectively down to 7 cameras :ROFLMAO: I like going out and not having to change lenses.

Quite often I'll just head out with one camera, I'm not one for thinking, I wish I'd brought xxxx with me. Less choice IMHO makes me a better photographer, I have to work harder, I can't be lazy :)

Think I need to figure out a way to try out a Q3/Q3 43 at some point.

I’ve tried my Z7ii with a 28mm which obviously gives me a crop option - obviously doesn’t compare to the Q3 in terms of lens quality but it gives me an idea of what I can do with regards to cropping.

Strangely enough if I’m shooting in portrait mode I tend to crop to 5:4 but in truth I’m much more of a landscape mode 3:2 viewer than a 5:4 portrait mode photographer.

I did try a Q3 on a LCE open day a while ago and the image quality was something else - admittedly at the time I was more taken with the Q2 monochrome I managed to blag for the afternoon.

Shame Leica don’t offer the same loan kind of deal Fujifilm do. :ROFLMAO:

Leica Manchester will let you take a camera out for a day, so you could do Q3 morning and Q3 43 afternoon - I know its a bit of a trek but if you are spending that kind of money its probably worth it (so you are sure)

Ah yes the Q2 Monochrom - maybe I do need a 3rd Q series camera............................ :ROFLMAO:

They kind of do, although I believe from July it's now £50, it used to be free. I rented the Q2M from them for a weekend before I bought my Q2. I also arranged to rent an SL but before they could deliver, I bought an Sl2-s so I cancelled it. They were very helpful.

Oh yeah, Manchester is no problem for me. Only been to Leica Manchester once before - seemed like really good guys - even the Wife didn’t mind being in there.

Oh and yes, the Q2M is lovely.

Ah that’s interesting to know - when I’ve looked before Leica UK were happy to lend you one but you had to pick up/drop off at the London shop off Oxford St. sadly not particularly practical for me.

I’ll have to dig deeper, thanks!

A revisit to this crumbling building and the council has put out barriers as some of the render has stated to fall off. Will anything be done to improve the building by the landowner, the answer is probably not. Like many town centres up and down the country my home has plenty of empty shops and run down buildings. Maybe a sign of broken Britain?

But on a positive note it makes for interesting photography and reflects the times we live in.
