Haha, very
Aha. The 43 makes an appearance.

Confession is good for the soul.Bit of a confession(and the most expensive holiday I've ever been on!) - Spent a few days in Sheringham, Norfolk - dangerously close to WEXs main warehouse/head office..........
Visited a few days ago with a view to purchasing a Fuji XF33mm F1.4 as I've not been happy with the Chromatic Aberation on the XF35mm F1.4 (very noticable when photograhing historic race cars wide open, as the roundels and number plates show it quite badly). Tried the 33mm F1.4 on one of my X-T3s, to my amazement there is was still significant CA wide open, not as bad as the 35mm F1.4 but still there. Left without purchasing anythingand went and had some lunch with my wife
.
After a couple of hours, with much soul searching and plenty of man-maths (and incidently the full support, even encouragement, from my wife), I returned to WEX and left with a Leica Q3 43
Needless to say, I now have quite a bit of Fuji kit I need to sell.....................................

Pretty sure we must never let our wives speak unless we've all been on the same page about how cheap those cameras with the red dots on are. The red dot is a reduced price sticker....right?I think your wife needs to speak to my wife![]()
And maybe everyone else's

Would love to hear your thoughts. I use a Q2 and have often thought about the Q3 43 for its longer focal length. I am really getting used to the 28 as I was primarily a 35mm shooter before and I love it, but the 43 appeals for its versatility.

Thank you.I've only had it a short while, initial impressions are excellent (as I expected), being an existing Q3 owner/user it has been straightforward to adapt. The main difference being the focal length!
It is sharp (as I expected) wide open.

I need to use it on more familar subjects to get a real handle on its abilities, but out of the box, it does what I expect it to do.
The Q3 has a number of upgrades on the Q2, the most notable (for me) are:-
Phase Detection AF - much faster
Higher resolution EVF
Anything else is a bonus, and I do use the tilting screen when shooting static race cars quite a bit.
Thank you.
It is something I am still considering. I spoke to a few photographers who use them when I bought mine, shooting the same subjects/genre and one told me the AF didn't feel as snappy on the Q3, which was strange given it is PD as you say.
I don't need the extra resolution, that's for sure.
The AF IMO is snappier than the Q2 that I borrowed from Leica Machester for day. The Q3 also has approx 1 stop extra of Dynamic Range over the Q2.
For a Q2 owner though the reasons to upgrade to a Q3 are all incremental, you have to decide if enough of them add up to justify the price difference. If you are a new to the Q range then its a slighly different story with the Q3 offering IMO a more compelling purchase.
Like you I was primarily a 35mm shooter (X100 series, 45mm on GFX, Fuji GA645, etc), I've adapted to the 28mm quite well, but its taken quite a time to 'see 28mm', I quite often find that I'm still 'seeing 35mm' and either have to make the decision to crop the shot or move closer in. But since getting the Fuji GM670 c/w 100mm lens and repurchaing a 35mm for the crop Fuji X-series cameras, I've been enjoying 50mm more than I ever did, so I'm hopoing that 43mm will be in the sweetspot - time will tell.......
Don't forget that JUly is usually the month for the annual Leica price rise, though in reality this firms up the second user prices a bit, so the cost to change remains teh same, but I would expect the RRP of the Q3 43 to be above £6K
That separation is lovely.
Thanks, having had a real play with it for a couple of hours, I’m very impressed with the 43mm APO lensThat separation is lovely.
