I know I have bought into a premium system here with Leica but do the batteries have to be so expensive :(
I’ve managed a year with a Q3 with one extra battery - only a couple of times have I had to use two batteries on one day, and several times I’ve managed a few days away without having to recharge

I do have WiFi and phone linking turned off by default though

yep original Leica are expensive especially for the "M" bodies - some have now been discontinued but "stock" is still available but if you are buying used, (and even new), always check the date on the battery.

For the M8/M9 there are now aftermarket and reasonably priced

For the first "Q" - Typ 116, the batteries are the same as Panasonic

(later "M's" and "Q's") - maybe the chinese will start producing copies, but if you are spending £6k on a new "M" - £150 for a genuine battery is certainly worth it for many

I need to go through the settings properly to maximise then, I think. I'll be giving them some more heavy use at an all day event this month so don't want to run out.

Good info, thank you.

I have an M10 and a Q2 Reporter. I can't find any used batteries for the M so will have to be new. There's a few Q batteries out there used. I'll have to just do it.

If you are using the camera a lot then the battery use will actually be longer (shot count wise), if you spend a lot of time reviewing images and generally doing things other than taking images, it will drain the battery, on one of my Fuji's if I do the latter I can get perhaps 150 shots over a 6-8 hour period, or I can take 1500+ shots in 2 hours - its all down to usage, but if you turn off wifi/any GPS location/rear screen etc it will last a lot longer.

I once when to the Isle of Mull for a week (accidently leaving my camera bag at home, blame the early start!!), all i had in teh car was an original X100 with a partially charged battery. I managed to make it last a week, by turning off teh rear screen, not reviewing photos and only using the OVF.

Not sure there’s many M10 batteries about used at the moment. I’ve had 2 since I’ve had my M10-P (almost 5 years) & find that unless I’m using live view of the typ020 EVF they last most of the day. I guess at £145 it’s an expensive investment, but if you’re going to keep the camera a good while, they probably pay for themselves over time.

I've actually got two but I am wondering how it would fair over heavier use all day and I have a little battery anxiety about it!

What did I find? High res, AF and IS help. But the Leica pics do not fall behind too much. But I had to many Leica pics to get a well focused one ... ---
