Hi, I am lucky, living near Frankfurt, where there are many interesting oldtimer events, Paul. -

I had to crop the car free - which happens with car meetings - so you can see a little of a grey trouser leg in front on the right, beside the fender ...

Well all I can say is Superb!

Leica Store Manchester really have looked after me and provided a brand new camera as a replacemnt, no quibels - sometimes it's the aftersales of a great product that make it stand out!

Anyway from today, loving the sensor and colours!

I have bought a very recent used Q2. I am finding it quite different and odd in my hands after so long with Canon and Olympus. Are there any Q2 users on here who have added either or both of the two accessories: hand grip and thumb grip? I find using the wheel on the right hand edge quite awkward.

Hi, all's well that ends well ...

But - I was wondering what one could have done to make the whole acquisition more pleasant.

When did the freezing start?

If it happened soon, one could have tried the camera in the shop, or take it round the block for an hour.

The shop should have a charged battery ready, and one would bring a card along.

A kind of try&buy, instead of a buy&sigh, perhaps ... ---

Ok these are all f1.0 (because well dur why else?)

My RF f1 hit rate is such that I suspect the lens is a reasonable match with my camera...

Using the hand and thumb grip on the M the lens is big but balances ok....

Focus ring is a bit too stiff to turn for my tastes... but it's brand new and I guess it's heaving a lot of glass and an FLE...

Noctilux 50/0.95 profile seems passable in LR (there's no proper CV one, yet..) so I'll probably code the lens as that...

It's a bit 'purple fringe-y' (which is easier than typing chromatic aberrationery) but I suppose that's to be expected at f1?

It's also far to cold me me to be outside right now, I'm unused to this English weather!!

I don’t have (nor never had) a Q but I added those things on my M, but that’s larger and uses (some) heavier lenses. The thumb grip I like and it stays on all the time. The handgrip I just use with my heavier lenses or for low light otherwise I don’t use it

I'm the same, no Q but my M9s have Thumbs Ups on them permanently although I don't feel the need for a hand grip. FWIW I also have the much smaller D-Lux Typ109 and I have a 3rd Party Thumb grip on that plus I fixed an old LX100 rubber grip (they come on the LX but not the Leica) to the front to add a bit of extra grip it does make a difference.
 
I’ve had the Q (wish I still did)
Never tried a Thumb thingy, had a hand grip but hated it. Not so much because of its usefulness. Just felt it was better to go commando.

No Q here either, I think @dancook had a Q/Q2 at some point. Don’t know if he looks in here anymore as I think he’s gone on to different things.

FWIW I have a thumb grip on my M10 - feels weird without it now!

Never used any of the grips or thumb thing, bought one Q2 it came with it and i took it off.

have had multiple Q, Q2 and Q2M - I like them bare.

I recently bought a thumbs up for my M (typ240) which I like using but did not originally comment because it is not a Q, so kind of as above.
 
Hi, the Q2 is a very good camera. But I am an M enthusiast, with 32 M mount lenses. ---

I do not use handgrips. They spoil the M lines, as spoilers do. But they are functional ... (M9 - ZEISS Planar 2/50 f 2):

Hi, I do not keep statistics on that. But I can say that my least used lenses are those longer than 50mm.

I have not used my Voigtländer 1,4/40 for a long time, because the focus ring sticks and screeches.

The others are used depending on the subjects (and my whims ...).

I'm wat behind you Immo, I have 10 M lenses. My most used bt far is the 35mm Summicron followed by the 21mm Elmarit M then the 75m Summarit 2.5 after that the rest are rarely used. I suppose if I had to I could live with just those 3 lenses but every now and then I have a need for a 28 or 50 or 90/135 so I'll keep them.

Hi, the lenses came to me over the years. Of my M mounts 15 are from LEITZ/Leica.

I set out on my Leica voyage in 1988 with the M6, a 35 and a 90mm. ---

In 2009 I went mirrorless with the OLYMPUS Pen, to adapt Leica M mount lenses. Then I bought many lenses, SONY cameras, and a Leica M9.

Now, with my portfolio, and my usage patterns, I find it more difficult to buy sensibly, and I buy only one lens/year.

Of course, one can live happily with fewer lenses.

In my motorcycling days, I went on holiday with one ROLLEI 35 (40mm fixed lens).

(Well, no ceteris paribus (on consecutive days) ... --- #1 was at f 2, I think, #2 at f 2,8. Both with the M9, #1 with the Summicron 2,50 v5, #2 with the ZEISS Sonnar 1,5/50.

The pics show that good lenses lead to fairly similar results, even in the hands of an amateur ...

With digital photography, one might ask, which lens performance properties constitute qualitative differences, and which can be generated by tweaking in post ...)
