Hi, flaring and ghosting ... (M9 - VOIGTLÄNDER 5,6/12 Ultra Wide-Heliar M39 5,6/12 f 8):

(This can happen ... --- My M39 v1 is available used on ebay. The latest version III is still available new from dealers, although it is not listed on the VOIGTLÄNDER website.

I do not know how v III would perform in a situation like the one above. Not using UWAs very often, I do not find it necessary to buy v III of the 12mm.

15mm I find more useful for city trips ... ---)

I’m scared of UWA but would love to try 21mm Summilux (as long as I don’t have to buy it).

Yes, the price of the 21 mm Summilux is quite intimidating, ---

I only have three 21mm M mount lenses:

- ZEISS Biogon 4,5/21: massive colour shift, It sits in my cupboard ... ---

-VOIGTLÄNDER Skopar 4/21: compact, cheap, shows a little ghosting and flaring

-LEICA Elmarit 2,8/21 ASPH: performs well, so I do not want to buy another 21mm lens

The flaring and ghosting of the 12mm VOIGTLÄNDER shown above I can live with quite happily.

I only wanted to show it so that no one buying this lens is disappointed. One can always change one's position to avoid or at least reduce flaring.

(15mm and 21mm are my favourite FLs for cities. (But I should try my 18mm ZEISS again ...))

Hi, on the Leica look :

I got 5 out of 7 on the quiz. ‘Leica look’ confirmed ;)

@pjh
Looks like you are enjoying the 35 lux FLE

@justpix
I find the 15 nice, but I am tempted to try an 18 or 21... any recommendations? (I know leica have an 18 vaguely affordable but its a t mount so would need an adaptor - thinking more towards voigtlander...)

Enjoying the Lux very much. I wouldn’t say it’s worth every penny, but I have settled on it and don’t feel the GAS that I did before buying it.

Hi, writing only about my lenses :

-ZEISS Distagon 4/18: I recommend it, bought used years ago for € 700

-VOIGTLÄNDER Skopar 4/21: very compact, may flare a little in certain situations, but very convenient

-LEICA Elmarit 2,8/21 asph. : my best 21mm M mount lens. I like using it

My answer looks a little like answers of the Delphic Oracle ... ---

And when I say I love them all that does not help much either.

Ultimately, it depends on your use cases, how wide you want to go. One can always crop ... ---

I'd be using the viso flex.. which is ok except for when the camera thinks the lens has been detatched and it hasn't (eg 135 leitz)

I did look at the VOIGTLÄNDER Skopar 4/21, looked like one I might use...
Also I looked at the 35 pancake... but not sure I'd like the lack of f# bokeh... however pancake lens :D But it does sit between the 28 voigtlander ultra II (excellent lens) and the 50mm f1.1 7artisans (cheaper option for bokeh, and acceptable)

Got an itch but no money to scratch it lol

I’ve started Reading the early days of this thread from page 1. Lots of Leica bashing going on!

Never look back .;) I have joined this forum in 2018, and started posting in this thread.

It has always been pleasant and friendly here (and I have only good experiences with TP).

You're a lucky fellow, Immo. ;)

Hi, I joined this forum 4 years ago after leaving a major German forum.

There were two main groups there: one knew everything, the other knew everything better.

And there were system wars: MFT vs. APS-C vs. "FF" vs. "MF"

And the brand wars: SONY vs. NIKON vs. CANON vs. Fuji vs. OLYMPUS - and all vs. Leica

For me photography is a hobby, which should only be fun.

I do not want to and do not have to prove anything to anybody.

But maybe, it's also due to age. One moves from young and wild to old and mild ,,, ---

I am happy here!!!:)

Hi, yesterday at the MAC event (M9 - Summicron 2/35 v4 f 2,8 ; crop) :

L1009464_DxO-L35c-c.jpg

(I used 3 cameras for this event: NIKON D850 for cars in motion, Leica M9 and OLYMPUS Pen EP-1 for cars at rest. 35mm is a good FL for parked cars, when there is not much room,
but distortion is still quite low. The 40mm equivalent on the PEN was already a little too long.)

(When cropping, I try to avoid mutilating people, cutting into cars brutally and distracting colour patches in corners.

Cropping is not always easy, I find. I could use UWAs to get frame-fillingly close, but then I get distortions. ---

I received my press pass for the Classic Gala Schwetzingen 2022. The organizers said: "No creativity, please. We need realistic, documentary pictures."

From the (very small) airshow at Sidmouth last week. (Panasonic G9 / Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100~400mm)...
