OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

found this little chap at the booty this morning and for £3 i had to take it home.

Kodak Retina. It all works, you can cock and fire the shutter using the levers but the shutter button itself is stuck so that needs a look at.

If its anything like the later Retinas you might have to reset the film counter first, I think you set it at 36 and it counts down.

Well what better way to introduce myself with my most recent purchase: equal in both brilliance and ridiculousness.

Thats mental.........you'll fit in well here, welcome aboard.

I think I remember using one of those - Polaroid instant passport photo camera. Sit the punter in front of a blank wall, snap, whirr, 4 identical passport shots on a single sheet. Staple diet of my mate's camera/processing shop back-room studio...

Try opening the back and manually moving the film advance sprocket (forgot what they are called now, the things that move the film along, like a gear). It's common on cameras of that age, so that you can't fire another shot without winding on the film (double exposure prevention).... might work! :)

At long last I've managed to pick an R4A, from a very nice fella on the Rangefinder Forum, it's like my other Bessa but with more bells and whistles and most importantly it has the wide framelines, perfect for the 25mm Snapshot and it just feels right :D

That means, unfortunately that my Bessa R and the Leica M3 have to go, so keep an eye on the classifieds ;)

I think it does Andy :( I can't keep that many Rangefinders.

If its still up for grabs when I get back from Canada I may be interested, just need to persuade Mrs Snap that it is essential that I have one for my continued sanity....

Might keep your sanity Andy its the other bodily bits and bobs you might have watch out for

Oh I can live without bits and bobs, they're just for decoration nowadays anyway....a rangefinder though I can't live without.

There speaks a married man. :)

I'd love an R4, would probably stick a 21mm on it. Thankfully my FM2+VC 20mm combo is keeping that gear lust at bay (although having two M bodies would be much better for travelling).

As if seventy one film cameras were not enough, in today's post I received a Nikon FE2 as a gift from an American member of Photo.Net.

In theory it needs a shutter repair as one of the blades is slightly bent but it appears to work o.k. and doesn't let in light (except when it's supposed to) so I will try it with film first before I try to straighten it.

I have a nikon F similarly affected which seems to work fine too.

Steve.

A return to film for me, I wanted to progress my landscapes, take them to a new level, and am doing more architectural and interiors stuff, so enjoying my 24mm TS-E on a 5D3 so thought this would make a great addition:

Here's a quick snapshot of my new Mamiya 7ii (alongside my Bronica and Rolleiflex) which arrived this morning. Got it from Peter Walnes (great guy to deal with, and a very good price) in as new condition, and have to say that it's a great looking camera. Can't wait to try it out! :)

My Linhof Technikardan 23 has just arrived, it is like Christmas!!

Great service from Linhof Studio, really good people to deal with, their description of the condition was much understated, it is in far better condition that they made out.

I've set myself a challenge of learning how to get the best from it, luckily I have some assistance, my dad was a commercial photographer in the 70s using similar kit so he is going to help.

Always wanted to try one and Vintage Classic Cameras had one in which was AI-converted, and they don't come up too often.... Wasn't a lot of money really, and I can probably get my money back if I choose to.

Amazingly compact. It's a Tessar design, so will probably have an interesting 'look'.

Lots of lovely new kit, it makes me think I really need to buy a new camera, I don't have quite enough ;)

Well I made a mistake at the bootie and bought another Minolta X-700 for £15 because I thought the 35-70mm lens on it was the one made in co-operation with Zeiss....when I got home and compared it with my Minolta\Zeiss one....It was just an ordinary Minolta zoom. Oh well it still might be good lens but I don't need it (or the camera). :(

Arrived today from Belgium - German Rolleiflex SL35 WOOHOO!
And the Schneider-Kreuznach SL-Xenon is soo clean. Running a test film through now..

Oops, brought a yashica mat 124g

Mmm I could do with an "Oops" moment and pick one up too...been drawn towards a 124G for a while now but yet to take the plunge.

Not a new purchase but a new toy in the sense that I can now play with it having, at long last, found a couple of Quarter Plate DD slides that fit a treat and work just fine...tried em yesterday, negs drying atm

Camera appears to be in reasonable working order too....shutter speeds are pretty accurate which is incredible for its age.

Gulp Asha..I've gotta admire you guys using old equipment.

LOL, it's not the most "compact" of cameras to carry around...has a max shutter speed of 1/1000 though which for it's era was pretty outstanding .

What's the max shutter speed now though :naughty:

Asha, want to send it to me when you're done so I can test my plates. Stick a first class stamp on it i'm sure that'll cover it.

It looks like some camera.

Dunno...too fast for me to measure it! lol

I very nearly bought that before I went on holiday, if it was still there when i got back I would definitely had it....:bang: Oh well maybe next time.
