Nikon D800......

Off to pick up a used D810 this evening. Lens should arrive tomorrow so looking forward to some of that FF loveliness. Had a D800 in the past so should get the hang of the D810 okay but are there any big differences to watch out for?

Great shot Simon, love the expression on the dog.

George.

Thanks George.

Trying out the 80-200mm f2.8 lens for garden birds, doesn't seem as good as my old 300mm f4 AFS lens, but can't complain for an older lens. I suppose it's more suited for general photography, portraits, landscapes etc....

Perhaps it's the D810 that isn't as good as the 750...

:D

Liked this one of a squirrel nicking the birds peanut butter of the perches.

Also trying out JPEG's, which I haven't used since changing from the Fuji XT1 to the D750 a couple of years ago. Pleased how they turned out, as when I changed from the XT1 which worked well with JPEG's to the D750 I was dissapointed with the results. Handy to know when you're short of space or time for processing.

Nice well composed shot Simon, plenty of detail, and spot on exposure.(y)

"Looks like your getting on real good with your D810".

Thanks George,

It's going to take a little while getting used to the camera and new lenses and I'm enjoying the experiences so far.

Nice low POV of the duck. How are you finding the 300mm PF lens?
The 300mm lens is really fine, the 1.4 TC arrived today. So far using the 300mm I believe it can be restricting length wise, I'd say a 500mm/600mm would be the compete ticket!

Cracking quality in this one, that's a good lens!

First few shots with the new to me 14-24, amazingly wide, handles distortion really well, and looks to be sharp so far. I went for a cycle with the gear on my back, 20 miles with a few more kilos on your back really makes a difference!

A couple hand held;

Couple of really nice shots Gregg, great light, good colour, and spot on exposure. Not sure about the convergence in #1 but other than that very nice.(y)

Dragged the wife out for a walk around Winscar Reservoir and saw the old house on the far bank. The boats looked lovely in the sun - so many different colours with all the different sails. I had to find a good spot to get a bit of the boating action and the house.

Just a snapshot really - handheld using my 85mm (all I had with me)

Nothing special but I quite like it. Just a shot of the bell tower at one of our local churches, should have had two bells but history tells me they ran out of cash for the second one.
This shot has had quite a pull up, bearing in mind that it was shot from across the road with a 105mm lens handheld. Still amazed at the detail retained from these bits of kit.

D810, 105mm Micro Nikkor Lens, 1/500 @ F5.6, ISO-100, Handheld.

Nice history and photograph.

There's a church near me and on the same street that my Grandparents used to live. The church is on a roundabout and is named locally as the "Church in the middle of the road" and I had it in my mind to photograph it yesterday. So your posting as got me more interested to make the effort.

Just had a google and someone has documented some of the history of the area > http://www.rhysowainwilliams.com/morriston-wales.html

@G.K.Jnr. Perhaps you can help with this, IIRC you own one. I sent my 35-70 f2.8 lens back last week and will probably buy the 24-85mm VR lens as my going about lens, if you do own it how do you find it on the D810? I have tried the Nikon 24-120mm too heavy, Tamron 28-75 had poor copy and Nikon 24-85mm f2.8-f4 version, so I think my only option left, as the 24-70 f2.8 lens are going to be too heavy for me is the 24-85mm VR.

Your thoughts will be appreciated.
