No advise to my last question? 'How do I go about shooting tethered to LR4 with the D800 please.' Any help appreciated, even links to tutorials.
Cheers

.....IQ may be a tad better than LR4.
Thanks George, sounds much simpler than described in the link posted by Keith (Cagey75), I hope your version is right. I'll give it a go.
Cheers

Right... looking at these lovely photos, I am ready to buy a D800.. where is the best place to find one?? Seems that the prices have risen lately in the UK.. any guidance is greatly appreciated..
£42 on ebay Jeff, i use these guys http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meike-Vertical-Camera-Battery-Grip-for-Nikon-D800-D800E-MB-D12-MBD12-/330923642213?pt=UK_Camera_Battery_Grips&hash=item4d0c960d65and they ship from the UK so delivery within 3-5 daysI like using grips, I have them on both my D700's. I think I will look into the Meike, they have a growing reputation for quality. £59.51 from Amazon.

Just got myself a camranger and it work really well on the D800
What situations are you using it for? Any downsides to it apart from the price?
I'm back....
Love the camera....
Anybody know why my Nikkor 105mm 2.8 G ED VR will only go to f3? The top panel will show f2.8 when first switched on...but in use I can not (in any PASM setting) get an aperture lower than f3...sometimes f3.2
I never had this problem on my d300s.
I can't think what I have set on camera - or lens to cause this..
Anybody got any clues?
Cheers

Cagey75 said:Yup, all macro lenses do this when you're focusing on anything close by, within a couple of meters. focus further afield and it'll hit 2.8.
What Hugh said.
It's a quirk of macro lenses that as you get closer to the subject the aperture changes. Nikons show you the effective aperture, IIRC Canons show you the intended aperture (i.e. the one you dialed in but won't get - they may have changed this). Which is why Nikon forums are full of people asking this questiona and Canon ones aren't
Re D800 tethered to LR. Works beautifully. Just get a decent cable. Those are big files to chuck down a long bit of wire. I usually buy stuff like this at Lindy rather than save a quid or two on the 'bay.

Is the sigma 35 f1.4 a better lens then my Nikon 50f1.4D? I know that my Nikon is razor sharp but will I notice that big a diff on the D800 with Sigma?? Apart from the 15mm?
