I`m waiting to get into London with it. Brands didn`t really cut it There is one on sale at AVF. A D800 with the grip and a 24-70 2.8. The seller may sell the lens separately if you put an offer.Still looking for a 24-70. Tried contacting some ebay sellers to get a deal outside of ebay but no joy as of yet!!

Was there any particular reason you bought the 85 instead of the 24-70 JJ?Many times! But he will not part with it lol

Yes i can understand that, if money no issue having both is ideal but im thinking now better to have options with a zoom, personally with just doing this fir pleasure im accepting zooms on my budget, gud luck finding one and keep pestering david about the scrumptous 20 mm lolWas intending to have 85 as portrait lens to keep along side which ever zoom I bought - but cant afford it all right now so got to prioritise my needs and stop buying/selling!!
This too lolJJ, what's the particular drive for the 24-70?
The only reason I ask is that I find forcing myself to stick with the 85mm is actually pretty liberating - no mucking around with zooming in and out... it is what it is! And I have to say, I'm loving being "constrained" to that focal length whilst having the freedom to concentrate on composition, lighting and timing the shutter press...

Weddings! Plus enjoyed using zoom taking pics of friends and family candid style!
Haven't used a zoom at my last 10 weddings.
But you have 2 D750's to do double prime!
Oh my look at these....

Only for the last few, just used a single D750 before that. Had a D7000 as a backup but never needed it. As long as you don't take 5 minutes to change a lens you don't miss much.
The Siggy 24 is still quite appealing too. £443 makes it even more so tbh!

The Sigma does look like a mighty fine lens! The Art series just look so nice!

Probably comparing the old Sigma 24Nikon 24mm f/1.8G conclusion: Superb 24mm option for Nikon
For Nikon shooters after a top-end wide-angle lens for high-quality architecture, landscape, and interior shots, or just to fit a bit more in the frame, there’s everything to like about the new Nikon 24mm f/1.8G. Affordable and outstanding optically, it’s in the top ten for all lenses tested on the D810, as well as being the sharpest 24mm wide-angle tested to date on this camera. Not only that, it boasts better chromatic aberration results and similar other lens metric scores when compared to the 24mm f/1.4 competition from Sigma and Samyang. If you need the f/1.4 maximum aperture for low-light work, the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 is a better value than Nikon's own-brand 24mm f/1.4G option, but both are surpassed optically by the brilliant Nikon 24mm f/1.8G.
Ok, I've been playing around with Photoshop to get a "style" I like for portraits etc. I've been using the gradient map (on low opacity) to tone down skin tones as generated by the D750 and as emphasised by my lighting setups.
I'm keen to get views, so thought this thread would be a good place to ask
Here is the finished product which has some smart sharpen applied selectively, a curves adjustment and the gradient map I've created:

And here is the SOOC with the softbox poking into frame- obviously the first thing to fix was the white balance

What do you all think to the processing style? The map basically applies a tint and variable desaturation which I rather like, but it might be somewhat marmite...
I quite like it, but the feint lines in the background (left of image) draw my attention away. I also think the crop is too tight.
Thanks Tim. The background is getting on a bit - an old vinyl B&W reversible number - so that's just something I'll have to live with until I buy a paper roll. Thanks for the suggestion re: crop, that's the easiest thing to fix as I can just go back to the SOOC crop (minus encroaching softbox)
The more I look at the skin tones, the more I like the look, but then I worry that it doesn't look natural enough. Does that matter?
Probably comparing the old Sigma 24
They're not. The new Nikon 24mm beats all other 24's. It's a great lens by the look of it but the sigma is more tempting. But it does weigh nearly twice as much. The Siggy is cheaper though.

you know David ,Ive been tooing and froing between the 20,24 and keep asking do I need the speed and very good sharpness they provide or would I be happier with the 18-35 less sharp ,less fast but more width and distance with a very good IQ that some say equals the 16-35 other than 2mm less wide.keep thinking youThey're not.
