Nikon D750 & D780

Yeah this is that one, got it 2nd hand and would probably get what I paid for it back, so I might look at a similar upgrade.
But what about depreciation? You'll be having the depreciation police on yer back with that attitude. (If you have no idea what I'm talking about I'm going to blame it on the heat and the thread that is doing the rounds on depreciation)

haha I did read that thread :)

I don't know anyone who would buy it... :(
I'm sure you'd have no issue selling it. I'd have it off you if I had the funds.

The 20 is pretty tempting though.

You could always sell and buy another one if you miss it!!

I keep missing out on eBay by like a fiver on last second bids lol.

Any reason you are not looking at the Tamron 24-70 2.8? Seems like highly comparable and many reviewers rated it better in some ways and has VC as well which helps.

IF I sell my 24-85 VR someday, I will look at the Tamron as I need VC .

He's already had one and sent it back...

When I got my 24-70 JJ I just messaged a load of reasonably local eBay sellers with an offer of immediate cash + collect to avoid fees and waiting for auctions to end and eventually one accepted and I got a bargain :)

I went through a couple of Tamrons and was not happy with any of them.

I'm pretty sure when you get a decent copy it's excellent, but without a local camera shop it was starting to become a pain!

I'm assuming the Tamron is noticeably slower in terms of AF too?

You've got to get the 20mm at some point Minnnt [emoji38]
Seen some great images from you taken with the 20mm. Do you feel at times you need wider?

I find the 24mm tight in some situations and looking at your shots of London, seems like the 20 might work for me including inside churches.

How's the corner performance between f2 and f2.8?

Hi Ani, I've probably never shot it at 2.8, or if I have I haven't checked the corners [emoji16]

Yes I felt I needed wider for a trip to the Spanish mountains later this month, so I bought a 14-24 with the intention of selling it when I get back, assuming I don't drop the beast! But if I love it as much as I love the 20mm then I'll keep it. The 20mm for me is fine 90% of the time, just occasionally you want more.

The 20mm still remains my favourite lens that I've ever bought.

Sun's come out again just after the Mercury transit has ended. It's testing my patience. Oh well make up for it by walking down the beach and watching the sunset.

My least-used lens is my Sigma 105mm OS Macro but only because I'm crap at macro stuff (lack of patience). I set myself a bit of a challenge this year to make more use of it and although the full-frame sensor doesn't really lend itself to decent depth of field up close, it's good enough for my needs. I also use a Raynox 250 and a Meike TTL/Manual ring-flash with it so that I can get right in close if the subject allows. These were all taken hand-held with the camera on continuous AF with the shutter set to focus-priority (rather than release priority).

can anyone tell me ,using the 70-210 D on D750,do i need to alter anything in the menu etc ?
AF is working fine when I tried it but when I open the aperture dial it won't give me the focus beep,i know its something I'm not doing but not sure what.
thanks
The few trial shots I've taken so far i do really like this lens, just need to know how to use it :)

Chris

Are you trying to change aperture on the lens itself? If so, that's presumably the problem as I think (if it's anything the D lens I've just tried) you need to leave it set to f32 or whatever is max and make sure it's locked into that position with the little slider at one end of the aperture scale. Don't touch it again - just set the aperture as normal in camera.

Cheers Paul, yes exactky as you describe. So what is the settings on there for, is it for older cameras with no motor?
Thanks again

Exactly. I had my 80-200 attached to an old 35mm film Nikon once upon a time. To be fair, that probably did have in camera aperture setting but not all did. Backwards compatibility was critical if they wanted to sell the new lenses to older body owners.
