I think theres a fairly large variance in the lens also, as there seems to be quite a few that are soft wide open and others I've seen that are razor sharp. To be honest thats what would put me off more than the price.

Yeah it was for me too. I could only justify it when my second D750 fell through.

The way I see it I don't need it for another two months and I've got 2.8 zooms to sell and cover the cost when I need the extra body.

I've pretty much settled on shooting portraits/people/weddings and the 58 on my D750 is perfect for that.

That's probably the only way i could afford the 58... By selling the 24-70.

Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with shooting a bit of everything, stops it getting boring and also gives you more to learn :)

Totally agree mate. I usually find that i go through phases with regards to what i shoot. I'm sure after Fridays wedding i will be thinking i can leave work and become Ross Harvey :D

That shot works pretty good for me David, creative and well presented.(y)

George.

Thanks George. I tried to put a little thought into my shots during the rally. Having limited focal length kind of forced me to. I've been sat on this for a few days now trying to decide on a crop. Glad it seems to have been the right choice!

Ha, he is a fat boy!

Here's another from yesterday...

Im having a bit of a wobble with the D750 due to me not getting used to the size and portability compared to my mirrorless exploits. I wanted to take it to Birmingham's Christmas market last night however I couldn't face the hassle. However I had a quick walk around with it and snapped these.

TBH, if you're not using it then it is pointless keeping it. But the IQ is clear to see in those shots.

Perhaps a small prime would make it more portable for you. The new F1.8g primes are really quite small and lightweight in comparison to your 24-70.

Good point. I'm looking at the focal ranges most used and its around that mark. It's all about compromise! The 24-70 is amazing though.

Ha ha - im going to have a look.

I've been pondering on the A7II with built in image stabalisation. Couldn't stretch to the A7RII and I don't need the megapixels- hell I was thinking about getting the A7S a while back! A7II has gone beefier though ....

Cracking cameras. The only things to consider are that low light and continuous AF aren't great, and Wb and colour accuracy aren't as good as the D750.

IQ of your shots are excellent, especially the 3rd. I'd be well chuffed with that.

Yes - done some research and AF is not class leading! I had the A6000 and it performed quite well but (at the time) couldn't consider the A7 1 due to the even worse performance

I used to take the A6000 with me everywhere!

I have to agree with David, mate. Give a little prime a try, and you`ll notice the weight difference. Foot zooming isn`t that bad ;)
I used to have a 17-55 f2.8, and that got heavy after a while, so can understand where you`re coming from.

Chris, you do realise there's only like 150g difference and the lenses will be the same size and weight? That means your weight saving is pretty much zilch. Its all about lens choice.

I have also added a grip (which is very much needed for the 24-70) which would have increased its lardiness! ☺️

Why do you need a grip? I use the 70-200mm f2.8 without one ;)

I do like the grip, superb addition for me.
But would you say it's "much needed"? :p

I tried the official Nikon one at the weekend and for me it feels much better than the Meike one I bought (and subsequently sent back), but it just annoys me how stupidly expensive it is

I think it`s something you get used to. I had a grip on my D300 & D700, but haven`t bothered (so far) on the D750.

It reduces the leverage on the little finger from the weighty lens. Feels better.
Bizarre how we all find things different. I take the weight in my left hand cupped under the lens (with no strain on the little finger), my right hand doesn't do much in the way of supporting so that it's free to roam around the controls.

I find the battery grip a bit obtrusive for 'normal' shooting, BUT makes life much easier when using the camera in portrait which is what it's designed for. As I said, clearly we're all different (y)

Does anyone else suffer from slow image playback/preview after taking a picture? Mine could take upto 5 seconds! :( It's almost as though I'm using a very slow card.... :(

I'm using a sandisk extreme 95mb/s.....so it's definitely not the cards.....

I mirror my cards.....

Have you tried formatting the cards?

Also on Sandisk Extreme Pro and definitely don't have this problem (RAW + JPEG on 1 and 2)

Hmmm, my first D750 didnt like Sandisk Extremes, so it could be the card. Try a different card or formatting as above.

They were all formatted before use, they were all brand new cards.....Bought 6 of them.....

Done a quick google and someone has recommended to change the c2 and c4 timers......Not sure what difference that would make though o_O

Sometimes the D750 can be slow to show playback or menus if it's been allowed to 'go to sleep', and this has been mentioned by several users. However, if I press playback after taking a shot it's normally displayed instantly. I don't have auto playback anymore, but when I first got the camera I did and again it was instant from what I can remember.

Ah ok, this is mainly on the auto playback.....

I need to test further really, as it's only had one proper outing.......Was VERY frustrating though!

The delay is a feature to prevent unnecessary chimping. :D

I find it moire annoying when the delay occurs entering the menu system. It does seem related to the 'sleep' situation though.

Still searching for a nice compact day bag for just the D750 and a prime. Its pretty hard to choose when online as dimensions always seem out!

Are you checking internal measurements?

Never use that facility Vishal, prefer to just get on and keep shooting.(y)

"Purely a personal thing, but there's nothing you can do with the shot outside of PP later once it's taken (with the exception of static subjects etc) so you might just as well get on with the next shot before you miss it".

George.

Agreed, dont use it either just slows the process down.

Probably stems from the fact that I still shoot a whole lot of film where that facility obviously is not an option.(y)
