Truly devastating news. May he rest in peace.
Sorry Nick, but what exactly is devastating about his death?
Irrespective of ones personal views, the world tonight lost a man who had a great impact on 20th century politics.
not really, the issue in Israel is religion not skin colour - its a total red herring in mourning the passing of Nelson Mandela, and offensive to try to make the linkage (and why single out particularly Israel rather than any of the other countries where one ethnic group persecutes another)
However... and somewhat off topic, I do think that we should have a sub forum of out of focus where we could discuss politics and religionwithout impinging on the rest of the forum. It could be quite interesting!
Intersting is an understatement![]()
Political and religious discussions have a tendency to go down hill fast, and the resulting animosity then spills over into other discussions. We don't want a situation where we'd have to come in swinging BanHammers, when it's so much easier to just avoid the situation.However... and somewhat off topic, I do think that we should have a sub forum of out of focus where we could discuss politics and religionwithout impinging on the rest of the forum. It's a mad mad world when there is such a massive outpouring of grief for a murdering terrorist....who went on to inspire millions....

Feel free to make the suggestion via Contact Us, but don't hold your breath.
I understand that, but would also like to see this section. It should be clearly highlighted as a no holds barred area and enter at own risk. We are all adults, and if you are offended easily then don't enter!
Why is it that a post to mourn the death of someone turns so quickly into viewpoints and politics and the wrongs and right. Have we forgotten how to be mournful and respectful when someone dies and prefer to engage in debating aspects of their life we never actually saw.
RIP Nelson Mandela.
Threads are not placed for everyone that dies so unlikely that crash would ever occur. For the few that are posted (politicians, sports people, other forum members etc), its not much to ask for the old fashioned value of respect.
For some reason though he has iconic status.
The man inspired millions and millions of people. It is always devastating when the truly inspirational ones pass on, regardless of how old he was. We probably won't agree on the man and this is not the thread for that discussion.
RIP Nelson.
There is mixed feelings but as mentioned the guy was 95 for Christ`s sake, how long did you expect him to live for? Imho " devastating " was not really an appropriate word to describe his death.
For you clearly not, for others quite possibly yes.
because he was old he doesnt matter? There is mixed feelings but as mentioned the guy was 95 for Christ`s sake, how long did you expect him to live for? Imho " devastating " was not really an appropriate word to describe his death.

I just wonder when the last time anybody really gave him a thought before his death, my guess is a bloody long time ago. That really shows what peoples feelings are about anything in this world![]()
