Daily MWHCVT(Matt's) - The Year of the Thousandth

oh dear not a happy shot at all :( But as long as you are ok (bruising and pain will go) and not seriously hurt

 just bruised, although it's really hurting currently, and as I've said the hire company have been very good about it

Ouch! Glad you have insurance with the LFH but still what a rotten thing to have happened. :( Hope your leg feels better soon.

It's a real shame but not really anything can be done, it's one of life's little accidents what's done is done, hopefully once I've had some sleep I'll not be in as much pain :(

 oh mate that's rubbish news! Good to hear you're not feeling too bad, and the Canon stood up to the bang at least (it's why we pay so much for these higher end cameras after all :))

I'd like to say "at least you got an interesting shot out of it" but that's rubbish comfort for you

 it actually is a comfort that I got a shot  I can only echo the above I'm very impressed with the 5D3 :canon:

was just about to ask that, hope it eases soon Matt

I'm sure it will, might just limit me for a few days :( but had some good news on getting home, my shiny new V24 LED Lenser was sat waiting for me in the porch :woot: one happy bunny here now :D

Fab bet you cant wait to have a play with it

No I cannot, thought not tonight far too much ice and snow for my poorly leg, it's bad enough tat I'll have to head out for work later on at about 1am :(

Day 18 - Cold and Alone

The world famous Chesterton Windmill was looking cold and lonely in the bleakness of this afternoons snowy conditions, it was close to a four hour drive to get this photo and then get home :( but I do think that it was all worth it as I think this minimalist nature of this really works, would have been good if there had been even more snow on the ground :D

Great photo Matt, it's got a kind of muted, misty feel to it as well which really adds something.

Thanks Phil it really was the hardest trip to the windmill ever  so very pleased to have got a decent photo out of it :D

Love this one. I'd maybe be inclined to crop a bit more foreground out to draw the eye up to the windmill, but its really lovely as it is. I love the low contrast look to it - just really simple but something very pleasing about it.

Matt the old windmill is looking good in the snow , I passed it yesterday on my way back from London.
You take your time bud !!

I shall do buddy, no messing around for a few day's and lots of slow driving ;) glad you like it, you should have gone on up there, you can although they don't want you to sneak out the back of the services down the staff access :naughty:

Thanks Lynn, glad that you like it and I do see what you mean and I've been contemplating it myself just thinking maybe the brush area at the bottom distracts a little

Ditto But..... I'd like to see more contrast

Gorgeous shot and certainly well worth the drive!

Today's shot was definitely worth the travelling! Stunning :) Do you have a Land Rover?

I do own a Range Rover, but it's currently and annoyingly off the road with a persistent electrical issue, that I really should have got fixed by now :bang: If I had been using that I'd have been out even longer today, because I'd have had to help the people that were stuck, and I'd have gone on even more of an explore :naughty: was out in my VW Touran

Ditto But..... I'd like to see more contrast

Thanks Sarah, I didn't like to say earlier but this scene has actually had a 50% boost in contrast already  very flat light today

Gorgeous shot and certainly well worth the drive!

Thanks T, glad that you like it :D

That's wicked. I love minimalist shots, especially ones like this in the snow, but also in the sea :)

Glad that you like it Conor  I'm a fan of the minimalism landscapes myself

Catching up again, liked your tit :) and the church mono, agree with others about the contrast and crop on the windmill but liked the minimalist composition and the lead lines created by the sparse snow. Hope your leg is recovering, dangerous sport this photography lark :)

You had a better car than me  my audi a3 got stuck 3 times yesterday! But was worth it for the explore!

Gotta go exploring :D and I only had one little slide where I lost the backend going coming off a island, but I managed to drive out of that with a little bit of opposite lock and power
