Daily MWHCVT(Matt's) - The Year of the Thousandth

I'm almost pleased not to be going to Whipsnade :D The way that wind blows up by the penguins

I do think that it's going to be a cold one, really hoping we don't get a massive amount of snow :(

Matthew, I love you and your shots and personality, but I just don't 'get' your last photo. It's clearly me as others love it. I do like the DOF and the focus you have, but I can't love it as much as usual. :( I have no 'eye'for these shots

The frost is nice Matt though me being me, I would have been after a nice frosty landscape if we had a nice frost. We just had steady rain here all day:(

Thanks Sam very kind of you to say, I don't think that this type of photo is for everyone  I'd be worried if everyone loved all of my photos

Thanks Phil, trust me when I say I'd have loved to have got out and done a great landscape, but the sky was just so boring today I couldn't make myself get out there and shoot one :(

Day 17 - It starts with a B and sounds like Rowlocks :(

This really isn't a happy POTD but it should be shown :'( I somehow managed to slip over in my own lounge and my 5D3 and LensesForHire's 120-300/2.8 and 2x which was attached to it at the time went flying in the opposite direction :( resulting in the damage you see here :(

Amazingly the 5D3 survived without a mark or issue so well done canon  :canon:

An advance reply to your photo of the day, as I've seen it on flickr. A good shoot, but oh **** you've had a bad day!

Yes mate, not a good day at all :( feeling very sore now, I have a feeling walking might me and issue tomorrow as leg hurts quite a bit :bang:

Bloody hell, that's a nasty bit of damage. Glad the 5D survived. Do you have insurance on the lens? Hope you are ok and haven't hurt yourself falling over.

Yeah it is :( I'm in a fair amount of pain from my leg, I suspect I'll have a very large amount of bruising in the morning :$ and yes thankfully all L4H rental agreements come with a standard insurance where by if stolen or damaged your covered you just have to pay the £150 excess

Ouch Matt that's awful! I see your fb comment.. You must be pi****d right now!

Ouch, big excess though :( Amazing what damage you can do the in house. I had a bad ankle sprain last year as fell out of the door carrying the washing. My whole foot & ankle went black & had to have x-ray.
A few years ago my OH dropped my 70-200mm out of the car boot onto the kerb, had to have that repaired.

Matt what can I say , firstly I'm glad you are ok and also the camera.

**** news about your hired lens but maybe a small blessing

You take you time pal

It's a fact of life I'd rather be paying the £150 than the about £2300 replacement cost  it worrying how easy it is to damage yourself though :(

Thanks Vince ;) quite sore but more bruised ego than anything :suspect:

Flippin' 'eck Matt what rotten luck. Hope you're recovered for Saturday

Well its all been said, so wont add to your anger/sadness/frustration....!

I think taking the positive ie not your lens and the camera survived should be the way forward. Makes me wonder if this happened as it was a Sigma and what might have happened if it was Canon - probably no different!

The sigma lens as far as I can tell did actually survive its just gained a canon 2x TC mount that has sheered clean of the converter :(

Crap!! The most important thing is that you're okay; bruising will go away! This is something I was terrified of when I had a hire lens. Although they have insurance and the excess isn't much (in relation to what the lens is worth), it's the guilt I'd feel at damaging someone elses property! Hopefully you're not in too much pain now and the bruising isn't too bad!

I've popped a couple of the strong pain killers that we have in the house but it's still coming on strong, guilt and damaging someone elses gear was my main issue too, but the people at the company were very understanding, although I'm sure I'll get a photo added to there facebook page

Yikes, what did you do for it to be so painful?

I basically bellyflopped onto the floor shin first :( unfortunately our floor is concrete covered in carpet :bang: it wasn't fun

My leg is getting progressively stiffer :( could make this weekends jobs interesting :( but other than that it's just pride that's a little hurt

I grimaced when I saw your picture Matt. Gutted for you, at least your camera is ok and you still have the big sigma for the zoo. Hope your leg gets better soon.

Indeed as that seems to have been my own fault on the 150-500 that said the way my leg is feeling currently I'll have about a 10 metre walking range that could be an issue for the zoo. I grimaced when I saw it too
