Motorbikes

Nice little trundle down to Exmouth for an ice cream. Had Mrs Nod on the back - possibly the last time she HAS to ride pillion! About a dozen bikes parked at the end, 4 Triumphs (2x Rocket III, 1x 900 Bonnie and my little 865!), 3 Enfields (2x 650s and a 350), a Sportster 1200, a Yamaha Harley wannabe, a Ducati of some variety (debadged) and a handful of L plates. No pix - left my phone at home!

Had to stop for a moment - milestone (of a sort!) reached on the Speedmaster. It hit 12345.6 miles! Wish I'd remembered my phone for that!!!

Just bought mine some oil and a filter. First change in 3 years, although the time is more of a factor than mileage at the moment, the current oil is still like honey.

Considering a new chain and sprockets too but I will get a professional opinion as to whether they need changing. Then possibly, some new brake lines.

I had planned a light resto, or more a refesh over the last winter but the new mower purchase put paid to that, so now, I'll just chip away at it.

MoT time for 2 of them tomorrow... Might see if Chris can fit t'other in as well. Then (hopefully) Herald pick-up!

Both passed. Still waiting for the Herald call.

And Happy Birthday to Mrs Nod! Hoping for the Herald call sometime today - probably just as the expected rain starts!!!

Oil and filter duly arrived but....................................should I be concerned by the pack of Rainbow Drops that came in the parcel?

Can't remember the last time I saw Rainbow Drops, never mind ate them.

Now there's a twist I bet nobody saw this thread taking.

MPS (Motorcycle Parts Supplies IIRC) used to put random little extras in their parcels back in the '80s!

As for the Herald... Well, it's arrived at the dealer but so have several older orders so we probably won't get it until Tuesday.:( On the plus side, the weather's likely to be much better by then!!!

Well, that's all 3 MOTed for the year.

Bit of a result this morning; I dug out a pair of waterproof trousers with armour in them that I bought a couple of years ago during lockdown - HUGELY reduced and noticed that they had 2 zips, a long one (almost all the way round) and a shorty that's about a foot long. I knew my armoured waterproof jacket (15+ years old) had a shorty zip and wondered if I could get the top half that came with the trousers sewn on in place of the one on the jacket. No need! They're a perfect match!

I dread to think where you plug it in for autoinflation...

Ooh! You don't want to go there! (C21!)

I see the new Benelli 702 has a built in video camera at the front. I wonder if that will start to be a common feature.

It's now one year since I swapped my Triumph Tiger Explorer 1215 for the Triumph Tiger Sport 660.

I haven't ridden as much as I would have liked (less than 3000 miles) but not because of the bike.

I can honestly say I don't miss the Explorer, she was the perfect bike when we lived in the USA as I munched many a highway mile on her going on long rides. She also took me to France, Italy, Germany, Czech Rep and home again but I would be happy to do the same trip on the 660.

The 660 is fast enough, comfortable enough and light enough to be everything I want from a bike. It would be nice if she had cruise control given I got used to it on the Explorer but I don't miss it as much as I thought I might. I think the ergonomics mean I don't feel the pressure on my hand and wrist. The quick shifter means I don't have to use my left hand so much which is good as I suffer joint pain in that hand quite frequently.

Definitely planning many more rides this year.

i do like the look of the triumph explorer, sat on one but never ridden one, very comfy, and its up on the list of replacements when i eventually kill my FZ1, might slow me down a bit too :D

Is CC available as a bolt-on accessory for the 660? There's also the old thumb/palm rest gizmo that stops you needing to hold the throttle too tightly.

Any recommendations for mesh riding jackets? Won't be used for super long trips or super high speeds. As always, as cheap as possible but willing to spend more for some quality!

i dont get mesh jackets in the UK, you must use them about twice a year if your lucky, the weather changes that much even during the summer, ive a couple of jackets, 95% of the time i use my Richa infinity pro 2 jacket, waterproof and ive rode in some really heavy rain, fits well, decent vents and good protection, ive a summer jacket that has better vents that i can undo , they look like pockets that unzip, but i can do them back up if it rains or the temps drop, ive a leather jacket that i dont tend to wear much nowadays as its a bit heavy and stiff, i also sometimes throw separate lightweight waterproof jacket ( another Richa) that il use if im away for a few days and im expecting a couple of days rain, just stops my jacket getting drenched ( its laminated so its not too bad), also keeps the wind chill down

I've got assorted jackets, all of which are too hot round town, even at this time of year! Hopefully a mesh jacket will allow more air flow at lower speeds.

Ricardo, your link doesn't work for me. What brand/model have you got?

I think the link works now.

Thank you for that, Ricardo. Will investigate!

Unfortunately Amazon only have up to L and I need XXXL (according to their sizing guide!) However, the Jet site has a similar jacket for a fiver more and has XXXL in stock. I'll have a quick goggle for Jet jackets to see if there's anywhere cheaper for them.

This is the similar one. Also stocked at Amazon in XXXL so have ordered one from there for the Amazon peace of mind! Fulfilled by Amazon too.

Sadly not though it could be easily added from what I have read should Triumph decide to offer it.

There are a couple of 'mechanical' options I could consider if it proves to become a necessity.

Arrived this afternoon, 2 minutes after my phone wibbled at me to tell me that it was due to be delivered today. As the Amazon reviews said, the inner liner sleeves are silly short but TBH, the liner itself is pretty pointless - it blocks the airflow which is the whole point of the thing! Glad I went for the XXXL option - it fits a treat!
