Motorbikes

Oh, and you see above, the goggles I use with the Bell Moto 3 have dark lenses in them.

One of my drop down sun-shields hits my (big!) nose so I had to grind it back. The others are all fine. Not a fan of dark (main) visors and I'm not sure how well they are policed in Wales...
Heddlu are a breed apart if they are in the mood theres a plethora of things they will find wrong with you or the bike to be difficult..they made me call recovery once for a stiff link in my chain and another time for no baffle ...bellends but despite me using a black or irridium visor for 99% of the time and me having several conversations with them over the years they havent mentioned them

Not sure id trust a polycarb helmet does go well with the bike though

To be honest, it’s not my style of lid, and I don’t foresee using it much. But hey ho I got it for nowt. I’m going to do some video of it in use for Insta when I next have time to go out, to do my bit to promote them.
After that….well I have 8 better helmets to choose from!

Close to a fetish! At least I only have 4 or 5...

2 lids, when i buy a new one the last " spare" gets binned, i have donated them before to the fire service for them to practice with, 1 bike...i keep thinking of getting another newer bike but the FZ1 does it all for me fast enough when i want to have a bit of a razz and comfy for me to ride all day even with my broken leg, sometimes when im away for days on end ( most ive done in a day is 960 miles up to loch ness and back(..i think, round about that anyway ), its been dropped a couple of times and is tatty with a few scrapes here and there but im not precious with them, they are meant to be ridden not polished and sat in a garage, its done nearly 80,000 miles and its never let me down apart from a clutch cable snapping ( and the replacement on breaking on me too both times in Scotland) and an electrical problem that was my fault, id replaces the tube on the scotoiler and unknowingly dislodged a wire by the front sprocket that got caught and snapped. gets the oil and filter changed regularly every 5000 miles with good fully synth silkolyne goes through 2 sometimes 3 sets of tyres a year and usually a set of front brake pads, ive had to replace the fork seals twice, its got a titanium race exhaust on and its been remapped so its silky smooth right through the revs, importantly for me it doesn't have too much electrical "modes" .

At least it was free!!!

Sorry, Bob!

Well, Mrs Nod is a step closer to learning to ride! She's booked herself in for CBT next Friday and has bought herself a new lid (Shark flip front). She's been talking about it for years and since I have a spare bike (or 2!) that she's welcome to use, we can go riding on days off.

Had another look at the Herald 125s which use one of the (now) ubiquitous Chinese Honda based motors and look like "proper" bikes.

Nice looking bikes, I kinda like the look of that 250 Maverick shame they don't do it in a 500 and black of course. ;)

There's always the Brute! (And rattle cans!!!)

Just been told that it's the Monday that she's CBTing. Then she'll have to wait a week for the bike - not wasting 3 weeks of tax!!!

Lovely day for a ride yesterday but I was feeling like sh**. Same today but at least the weather's not so nice!

Had a brief chat with someone who knows the owner of that Vinton and asked why it's a "Vinton" rather than the more usual (and nicer-off-the-tongue!) "Norvin". Apparently, the engine gives the first part of the name, hence Triton, TriBSA and the rare Norumph!

As I mentioned in the WCMUT thread, a 90 mile round trip to fill up was nice! Nod's law did prevail though - having checked the weather forecast (looking at the sky in the direction I was headed!), I went for the longer circuit (Newton Abbott/Totnes/Buckfast/Two Bridges/Moretonhampstead/Home rather than Newton Abbott/Heathfield/Moretonhampstead/Home). Stopped to use the facility at Venford Reservoir, at which point it started to drizzle. By the time I came out of the facility, it was proper rain, which lasted until the Warren House Inn. Guess who didn't take 'proofs and who was wearing his least weatherproof riding jeans...

Still worth it! Don't often get the chance to get out for a few hours on my own but managed today while Mrs Nod's doing her CBT. Looking forward to similar rides in convoy (and shopping for the 125! Herald Café looking favourite and hoping they can get a black one quickly - will find out tomorrow afternoon!)

Tell me about it! Got caught out yesterday and no time for a decent ride today...

BUT... I do have the perfect excuse to but a new bike! Mrs Nod got her CBT yesterday so needs a 125. Just finishing the post prandial coffee then we're off to the shop to see if they can get a black one in quickly (or do a deal on the "wrong" colour one they have in stock!)

Guess who has a birthday on Star Wars day? She's getting a Herald Classic 125 in Granite Black for it next week.

Reasonable lock (on the basis that if someone wants it, they'll have it so it's just to deter chancers really) will be arriving before the bike does! Optimate type port on the way too - all the vehicles have them, as do the things that might be needed by a bike or in a car (car only things have "lighter" type plugs.)

Looking forward to bringing it home and running it in for her...

900 or 12?

Quite a few people go for the 9 over the 12 for just that reason - the 9 is plenty for their wants/needs. There is a fair bit of difference between my 865s and the 1200 but in real life, I don't notice it that much.

The 270° crank makes a big difference to the sound - the Bonnie I have has a 360° one but the other 2 are "out of synch" so have more of a pulsating engine note. The deeper breathing of the 1200 makes a difference too!

I always thought I’d like the Scrambler 900 as a second bike (if I had the room). I’m not so sure now.

I have a Suzuki V-Strom 650, having previously had a Honda CBF1000 and several other 1000cc sized bikes. My biggest concern was dropping to a smaller engine, the lack of power and having to work an engine more.
I'd still like a more powerful bike, but do I need it? Not at all!
Mine is way more economical, lighter in weight and on tyre wear, cheaper to buy and insure and very rarely do I miss the extra power. I also still have a clean licence in part as I'm not tempted so much to go a bit silly....
I've not been riding much recently as I've been waiting for hip replacement but yesterday I had a cortisone injection into one hip, last night I was actually able to sleep without pain in that area (still got a problem shoulder) but I expect I'll be getting out on my bike a bit more over the next few months! Only a few weeks ago I was planning to sell it as I didn't think I'd be riding at all this summer.
Feels like a good morning!

The comment I made about the Scrambler’s power output wasn’t one of disappointment, but of surprise. It’s almost the same capacity as mine, but a lot less powerful.
I think the 95 PS of mine is the sweet spot for me because I have used it and will use it for long-distance fully loaded touring.
I certainly don’t need the huge power output of the Tiger 1200 range.

I didn't need the power or torque of the Rocket III. I DID want it though!!!

Itch scratched and the Bobber gets far more use, as do the others.

MOT time for them all next week, as well as collection day for the Herald!
