mich66 - my 52 (week 22 - catching up slowly)

The canal and the wet cobbles really make this shot, although I too would have tried to capture a little more detail in the building... you could try and get a bit more detail from the RAW image...

Still, it's a nice shot and it fits the theme perfectly :)

heh heh... the name always makes me giggle too! :)

had a look at the original and there isn't a great deal of detail in the building other than the 2 windows on the side.. not sure my PP skills are up to just changing that bit on its own

thanks for comments, not a conventional street shot but I think it fits the theme ;)

Love week 4, street! Im a sucker for cobbled streets so it would easily worked for me! lol

Impressive as always, taken from the perfect spot.

Excellent shot. I didn't think getting too much grey sky in would work but you've proved me wrong. It actually adds to the image. Also, i must have missed your chopped image. Love it :p

What a great shot! Lovely composition.

Have you tried to dodge any detail out of the darkness on the left hand side of the pic, or did you intentionally want to have it dark?

Ian.

Love the lines and the cobbles Michelle. I quite like the fact the building is dark as well. Great job.

Cheers, Rob

thanks for comments..

the building is that dark on the original, I did lighten the windows slightly as you could hardly make them out at all once resized..

I preferred the silhoutte look as dodging just made it lighter and didnt bring out any detail really..

:)

Very nice -I love the textures and the lighting and am happy with the silhouette. The B/W conversion works very well in this one.

I like this, I actually like the lack of detail in the house on the hill, makes it a little more imposing and severe - like the cobbles. Then you go and ruin the ambience by naming the place!

I love your Street shot Michelle

From the curve leading you through the picture to the light shining on the damp cobbles, stupendous :clap:

But the name made me laugh, guess we never grow out of that childhood naughtiness of 'rude' words. ;)

Although in the North East the 'nobs' were the ones with money and big houses.

I would have liked to see a bit more detail in the house only because I find my eyes drawn to black part of the image rather than the lovely curve of the canal and the cobbles.

The nicest Nob End picture I've seen on these forums

Okay I'll grow up. I think it's great. Fantastic sky and a lovely sweeping curve. The balance between light and dark works well for me. Excellent njob

Love this sooo much. Wet cobbles leading you into the picture. Sky is well exsposed and I like the fact there isn't a lot of detail in the buildings, it keeps my attention focused elsewhere - on the path.

I am speed..

Faster than fast, quicker than quick. I am Lightning

Ke-chow!!

Looks great Michelle, nice simple idea! Love the reflection.

Cheers, Rob

Street : Agree with the others - great composition, just a bit dark on the lhs.

Speed : I'm guessing you have a young son...?!? Love the lighting in that one, as well as the reflection.

Great shots both. :)

You've certainly got in quick with 5, I normally dont look at any till I've done mine, you caught me out there:lol: Anyways what a quality start you've made
the flower is stunning with not a bit of distraction for the eye. Chopped is great thinking outside the box.Note to self," if I get a cut don,t go to Michelle"
Speed has worked really well, cool reflections.....Mick

thanks all.. its my grandson's beloved lightning.. bit battered so had to do a bit of patching up of scuffs.. off today but rain stopped me venturing outside and busy for the rest of the week so a cop out indoors shot, was quite pleased with it as took me an age to get the lighting right.. :)

Great lighting and colours, Michelle!
Loving that reflection too! :-)

Superb! love it, the lighting the placement of the car looks fantastic against the black with the reflection.

cant really add much to what has already been said. a fantastic set of pics so far. well done.

Very Very nice Michelle simple but so very effective and the reflection is spot on :)
