I see there are to be more 70/80 mph winds in the north of Scotland on Wednesday .which looks like it will affect you,too but not 70/80 mph,though. I'm sure it will be quite blowy for you.. 45/55 mph gusts maybe ? Just a guess taking into consideration the much higher winds up north .I see weather warnings are out for it. Scotland is taking a battering these past couple of weeks with two named storms and normal heavy rain. At least you missed the heavy rain just south of you today. We missed it,too..it skirted just north of us but it was as dull as dishwater all day especially into the afternoon.

According to this forecast there will be freezing rain...ie it freezes as it hits the ground so creating dangerous driving (and walking) conditions.

As an aside, its always been known locally as the slug ( its pretty obvious why).
I used to do a lot of pest control in and around CMK.

I had a meeting with a land owner and some official or other up there.

I referred to the Xscape building ( new name for the snowdome) as the slug,
and the official gave me a sideways glance.

After he left, the other guy, who I had a good working professional relationship with said,
That was the architect …

And that is how I win friends and influence people :D

2 kinds of weather that worry me, wind and that kind of ice. Dangerous stuff.

It's raining at the moment, so a small change at least, although it is very light.

It's been 4°C all day, still is.
 
Well that was a cold one. -3°C overnight, crystal clear skies though. Same this morning, everything and everywhere is crispy, the paths were untreated too so it made for a very slidey dog walk in places.

Currently -1, so it's warmed up a tad in the last hour. No wind but it feels bitterly cold outdoors. Lovely morning so far.
 
8-C here at the moment, bit of wind but no rain and very overcast. I spent yesterday indoors but looking forward to getting out for a while shortly.
 
It was 10oC well past midnight, in the early hours.
Its apparently 8oC currently.
Usual stuff, light breeze, very dull and overcast,
Its supposed to be a cold one tonight, 0oC around midnight,
 
It warmed up quickly, even if it doesn't feel like it, currently a balmy 7°C, allegedly. Not convinced.

Clouded over a bit but still calm at the moment. That's going to change in the not too distant future, we are under a yellow for wind tomorrow.

Did anyone see that highest recorded Uk temperature over the weekend? Just shy of 20°C, in NW Scotland. Who'd have ever thunk that eh?

I think its getting colder TBH.
 
Temperature has now dropped to 6-C here and the wind has got going more so it feels colder than that.
 
Apparently its 6 here also and "feels like 1" I can go with that.
 
It's quite windy although nothing like Isha was and for now at least Jocelyn too. I saw a relieving weather prediction last night that said this storm was going to pass further north than expected, so weaker winds would affect us here and generally too. It's still a yellow warning though.

It's dry, with broken clouds and 8°C. It was actually getting light when I got home from the dog walk this morning, we'll soon be talking about heat again.

5-C here at 04-00 and up to 7-C now. Very overcast morning with virtually no wind or rain.

The worst of the winds seem to be by now but it is still blustery. We are getting squalls though, with heavy, almost horizontal rain. Not a nice day at all and 5°C.
 
Temperature here has now dropped to 5°C and it has become increasingly windy as the day has progressed. It's probably just the chill factor but to me it feels very cold and unsociable.

If there's such a thing as calm after the storm, this morning is it, a lovely day, so far. The dog walk was a pleasure, we're just in, nature is waking up too, I watched a pair of Dippers in the early stages of courtship from the stone bridge, looking down on them. Trees, shrubs are showing signs of budding. The breeze was cold on my face but the rest of me was toasty by the time I got to mile 2.

Lovely sunrise, the sky is cloudy but the breaks in them are pink and purple sky above. Dry, slightly breezy, 6°C. Full daylight by the time I got home.
 
Its currently 6oC. Clear blue sky and no wind.
It's quite pleasant out.
 
Had too many layers on this morning! I've been wearing a long sleeve T-shirt under the g*lf shirt and it was a layer too far! Maybe a long sleeve polo shirt next week rather than the 2 layers.

You missed one,there,Dale. So did we all, really. That storm passing off the top of Scotland, tracking between Scotland and Iceland..ie..further north than Jocelyn, which was further north than Isha, was named by the Norwegian Met Office as Ingunn. It turned out to be yet another storm described as experiencing "explosive cyclogenesis".The media refers to them as 'Bomb cyclones" ie.. the pressure at the centre of the Low drops 24mb or more in 24 hours. Dangerous beasts, for sure. I'm sure I heard a Met forecaster say that wind speeds (gusts)of 155mph were recorded on the Faroe Islands (200 miles north of Scotland) so I checked and it's correct. There was a rare red warning out. In Scotland gusts of 106mph were recorded on Aonach Mor mountain as well as 70mph on South Uist, 60mph at Stornoway and 46mph in Edinburgh. The storm tracked east about halfway between Scotland and Iceland so that would put it at 383 miles from Scotland and look at the effects in northern Scotland.

Can you imagine if that storm had tracked further south ? My guess is that the way things are going re named storms, an amazing ten so far this season (late August last year to September this year ) the UK will experience one like that, eventually.
 
@JohnC6 , 155mph, I'm glad that dodged us. The roughly 100mph we saw last week was scary enough and also dented my wallet somewhat.

We did have 2 storms a number of years ago, I think it was 2011. Storm Friedhelm became known (unaffectionately by me) as Hurricane Bawbag and winds were recorded at 165mph with sustained wind speed of 70+ miles an hour.

Oddly, it was more severe than Isha but I don't recall it being so.

A balmy 10°C here, windy though, which is making it feel colder than it actually is. No rain at the moment but quite a dull day.

I've just Googled Friedhelm/Bawag. I do recall the name Bawag ..because it's an unusual name..but had forgotten the details of the storm. A bit of a monster.

We had quite gusty winds earlier from 8.00am with bright sunny skies but it's calmed down now. 12ºC. The winds must have moved SE to your location.
 
As is often the case, it was extremely variable up on Dartmoor this morning. The temperature was fairly steady at around 11°C but it went from overcast to sunny to misty to drizzling in a couple of miles, with a hefty dose of Bawbag swinging (well, it would have, had I got it out!!!) wind up at Combestone Tor. By the time we got to Ullacombe Farm for lunch, it was all but dead still!

The sky is still clear and the forecast is for 9oC over night.
The breeze is chilly though.
