Heat.

I did say that I didn't hold out much hope for the post and two 6'x 6' panels of the neighbour's fence in this wind. The worst is yet to come but the post and panels are now lying on their back lawn. The fence runs along the edge of our patio. Easy access now for any hedgehogs that are around..lol.

It's behind Youuuuu......:D

Rainfall 1830...https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/maps-and-charts/rainfall-radar-forecast-map#?model=ukmo-ukv&layer=rainfall-rate&bbox=%5B%5B39.06184913429154,-45.6591796875%5D,%5B65.83877570688918,37.705078125%5D%5D
It's still pretty windy and still very little rain.

That's surprising. The rain radar map shows it's at least on your doorstep. I suppose it's difficult to gauge how far you are from London..my anchor point. I see my Met Office url didn't go live after posting.

Here's what I'm seeing now . https://www.meteoradar.co.uk/en-gb

Just seen your radar map. 0.3mm ??. Lol. It's been like a monsoon here.

We're only getting 85-95 kph gusts, can feel the house shake.
It's blowy here, but I doubt that it's close to that.
Some rain, but It's blowing around in the wind, not actually chucking it down as predicted ( not yet anyway)

about 45 miles north x north west

34mm rain here so far but almost none in the last hour. Just wind. Not too bad though. 30-40mph. There's a Munro (over 3,000 ft) and a ridge of 3 or 4 Corbetts (over 2,500 ft) just next to where I live. Sometimes they giveth, sometimes they taketh. I think tonight they're providing some level of shelter. God knows what it's like on top.

Yes.. I am aware you are NW of London but on a rain radar map there's no sense of distance, infact MK wasn't shown. I thought.."You're under there somewhere... :D

Clearish and 6 Celsius here this morning. We had strong winds and heavy rain last night, and there were some damaged trees with a partial road blockage on a country road. Otherwise back to normal.

Well, we survived, after a noisy and restless night and minus a fence, we're still here. Ironically, the fence I was worried about is still standing but a whole setion, 90° to it has come down. I'm guessing it will cost a fortune to replace. :$

It's calmer now but still gusty, it's not done with us just yet.

5°C and rain.

Well I think we were the lucky ones, no rain over night but my wife tells me the wind was quite strong (I was dead to the world buy 21-30) and no damage anywhere.

6-C at 04-00 and up to 9-C now, still windy but other than that a beautiful morning.

It 8oC so far, and a bit blowy still, with clear blue sky's.
It did get a bit rough last night, with the wind, but very little rain.
Seems I got away quite light compared to a few others.

Unfortunately, You've got another named storm coming in tomorrow. Jocelyn.

Here's the reason. https://www.netweather.tv/charts-and-data/jetstream

The wind speed of the Jet Stream in the right column is in mph. The average speed of the Jet Stream is 110 mph and as you see by the the "pink " colouring in the chart shows that to be 190/200mph which really deepens a Low. Inj the link click on "Animate" top left and the forecast position will move and over on the top right side is the date and time as it progresses so, it's showing that those wind speeds will be over the UK at 9.00pm tonight and again on Wednesday at midnight. It looks like the wind speed will drop to the average (reds) by Thursday.

A bit breezy last night but no damage to roof or fence. I spent a few quid about 10 years ago and had both sides "done" properly, replacing the cheap panels which needed replacing with monotonous regularity along with the pounded in post anchors.

This is interesting. Because two fence panels of our next door neighbour's garden have blown down...the post snapped at the bottom.. I then saw that a panel of the fence on the far side of their garden is down..ie the neighbour next door but one to me.. and they have concrete posts. The line from next door's fence panels to their neighbour is SW>NE..exactly the track of a tornado which the Met Office said was a possibility of in the west/sw regions . I then wondered about their roofs and there is a large and heavy ridge-tile half-way down next door's roof on the front. He's gone out so I need to tell him as soon as he returned because if storm Jocelyn gets to 70/80mph gusts it could well bring that down. We had that with the Jan/February 2013/14 storms and the ridge tile came down onto the new car. It was two weeks old . That was a tornado, which I heard..a roar..and it went on in its SW>NE track and took the roof off a bungalow 2 miles away. There are photos of a lot of fence damage in our area with fences completely blown down. There are about 30 tornadoes reported in the UK each year. They are small (weak..relatively) and short-lived but cause structural damage.

Here in NW Scotland we got through storm Isha well. The Met Office's highest gusts were for 1-2am today but it did not seem to get any windier then than earlier in the day; just waiting for Jocelyn now, fingers crossed again.

Between shoring up fences, we've had one complete collapse and another damaged and no mobile signal and intermittent internet yesterday, we seem to be back. The damaged fence though is at the end of the street but it does prevent it being a thoroughfare so I'm keen to get it sorted but that will be The Council's responsibility.

It's all calm again here, for now at least. Isha battered us, only 'Hurricane Bawbag' in 2010 I think it was (might've been 11) was worse.

Currently 4°C. not particularly windy, broken cloud.

Bottom of frame is our garden.

7-C at 04-00 this morning and up to 9-C now, very little wind at the moment but light rain.

OUCH!

7oC here, with a light breeze, and yes its raining steadily

I have to say here in Highland Perthshire Isha wasn't as bad as Babet in effect. Certainly much less rain than October when it was unbelievable with severe flooding. We lost more trees then too. Isha didn't leave as much damage although perhaps Babet wiped out all the weaker trees anyways. Isha just felt like a very windy wet night. Now Jocelyn is on the way so will see how that develops.

12ºC here. The wind is just getting up a bit now but nothing like it will be up north. We've even missed most of the rain,so far but I see there's a lot en-route from the SW. For us, down here, we're fortunate that the storm centre is off the top of Scotland.

12oC here also, and dampness in the breeze.

13.5 on the way home tonight and windy enough to blow the Toyota crapbox loan car around on the road. Got home ok, but directionality was a little vague sometimes.

Windy but not too wet at the moment. Reasonably warm (for late January!) though.

9-C here at the moment but quite windy, fairly bright with no rain. So quite a reasonable day.

"Unlike others across the UK we've once again been very lucky and missed pretty much all of the storm"

7°C just now (8-40am) but it was slightly warmer at 6-30am:thinking:. Still quite windy, we're not out of the woods yet (in some cases, the woods came to us  :$) but it has eased to what it was. Our internet and phone signals have been sketchy here, with almost nothing from early Sunday until early Tuesday. It seems stable now though.

Jocelyn wasn't quite as wild as Isha but we certainly knew about it. :runaway:

Cloudy but doesn't feel overly cold outside at the moment.

9 here too, clear and calm. Might be a nice day.

9oC here also, the sky is pretty much clear, just some light high clouds, a bit of a breeze, but we seem to have got away with
the worst of it overnight,

What seemed to be the build up for storm Jocelyn was very wild during yesterday afternoon and early evening but it did not develop any further and by about 6am today it was no more than a 'normal' gale, fortunately.

The unusual thing about the last few days is the duration of the wind. Its been blowing a gale almost continously everyday from Saturday .

Dave

I had a rainy day fund. I'd never anticipated a windy one. Does this mean I can still buy that lens instead of a fence? :p

Upto 8°C now, breezy, showers, sunny spells in between them.

Since it was reasonably warm (above 10°C) and not raining, we went topless for lunch (much more fun for me than for Mrs Nod!) down to Lyme Regis. Quite wavey but not too windy there which meant the seagulls were out in force.

8-C here at 04-00 and up to 10-C now, no wind but its been drizzling with rain since I got up. Very misty and murky but apparently high winds are forecast for later so all the mistiness should clear then.

I see we're into a benign spell now and I wonder what February will hold ? The second week of January and pretty well all of February are the worst periods.

Just back home, the car says 11oC
It dark damp and generally miserable, at least its calm.

About 12 hours after my last post, ( its now 00:27)
its 8oc and raining steadily.
