Heat.

It was zero on the way home this evening.

We looked up the forecast for our bit of France, and Meteo reckoned -5 tonight, +15 by Tuesday. It's curious how a police more than 500 miles south and 400 meters higher up so often has EXACTLY the same weather. :p

8pm and it's postively balmy...... 0°C. Beautiful evening, a bit of a breeze but nothing worrying.

A light breeze and currently -2 I don't think it went above 0 today.

That's the only reason I leave the fall flowing in winter, birds seem to love the flowing water over the baths.
I watched a Blue Tit have a wash & brush up in one of the cascades this morning and a rock dove too. I think it's important for them even in this very cold weather to be able to keep their feathers in good trim. Also, four feral pigeons sat in the very shallow water of the slope out of the pond which is there so that anything, like a frog, can get out.

We're due -7
There is always a selection ( 365 days / year) here, fat balls, mixed seeds, peanuts meal worms.

Extra strong mature cheddar here. They love it.

They will also eat meat, that incudes the pigeons if the magpies don't get there first.

We don't have any cheddar so I grated the Red Leicester and lo & behold the Grey Wagtail ate it along with some suet.

I have a very strange iMac. Underneath that last line was this..... 0C . I'll post in the tech thread as I have other issues.

When I'd bow my birds out, there was always a bath next to them, and they'd make use of it, summer or winter.
Sometimes they'd get so wet, I'd need to bring them inside to dry off, in the winter.
Or sit them on the dashboard or steering wheel of the 4x4 with the heater blowing, if working, and they found a puddle :D

Same here. I have loads of frogs, sadly no Newts though.

I'm not seeing it

I'm not seeing it
No, I saw it before I hit 'post reply' and deleted it. It's one reason,I'm sure, I get a wee bit tired the later it gets and the more I post. Sometimes I get a cross right through a sentence xxxxx like that and to get rid of it I have to hit the 'x' key ..not the letter x but a delete key wirh an x on it.. Also, if I want to copy/paste something,,eg moving a sentence within a paragraph or introducing some additional wording I can't add it to the sentence already there I have to go to the next line..having made space for it to go in if in the middle of a paragraph.. and then use the delete x to take it back to the line above OR..it will go to the beginning of the paragraph.

-2 here in my bit of Wales and the roads going to be fun, a water mains burst.... and it's running down a hill with a bend.

That all sounds very strange TBH

I'm a closet weather geek. My weather station showed -8.8C (App. Temp -10.2) and 87% humidity at 0730h this morning. 3.4mph Northeasterly breeze was not strong but present enough to make you feel it. As I type it's a relatively balmy -4.2..

Yes,it does. I tend to type at speed using two fingers only so maybe catch other keys. I've seen people type using several fingers at speed without any problem. I use right index and left middle fingers. Also, I've caught myself not having my index finger well over to the right on the mouse. Having said all that there is no explanation for the problem adding words inside a sentence nor text from another post . It's just happened now.

For whatever reason my first sentence here was deleted and this appeared which came from the second paragraph in my last post, just now, in the "War in Ukraine" thread. I actually copy/pasted it from here to show you but when I pasted it back in it didn't show..what did show were were my original words that it replaced. As the Americans would say.."Go figure"

I've gone to my last post in the Ukraine thread so you can see what appeared here. My copy/paste from there should remain visible this time.

"An intercepted message from a Russian soldier on the front, at Krinky, said to his friend.."

The mind boggles. I was just writing the word "maybe" and a large box appeared on the screen with several uses of the word 'maybe...I was about to say... maybe I have a mischievous poltergeist..:D NOW...I have several words with a red dotted line underneath... I think I'll turn in...:)

It looks very clear and cold outside, and the house is not as warm as it might be this morning.

Time for the suncream, it's +2°C. Just above 0°C at 6-30 am.

Quite windy, cloudy too but with some breaks in it letting some gorgoeus, dawn colour through.

We had just about 2cm of snow overnight, which is now slowly thawing.

Perfect Icecream weather :D

We had Vienetta. Not my bag but it was rather good.

It was warmer in the freezer last night than in our kitchen. ;)
Did you see my post re an easy way of making ilovely ce cream ? Not Viennetta, though, which I really like but vanilla and also with Baileys

Minus 4-C at 04-00 this morning but up to 2-C now with hardly any wind and a lovely sunny day.

I don't know what it was just after midnight, but it was bloody cold with frost on most surfaces.
It was 2.5 around mid day, and sun is finally starting to melt the ice on the picnic bench in the garden.
At least its potentially warming up Sat and hitting double figures by Sunday for a few days

The lower reaches (tidal but shallow and not huge tides at the moment) of the Otter were skinned over on the newly extended salt marshes. Some clear areas so the birds were happy.

My bold. It will be a bit more than 'quite windy' for you on Sunday,Dale :) . 50/60 mph gusts inland and 60/70 even 80 mph in places along the coast . Same for the West country here ,south and south east Wales. Even the SE of England will see the same level of wind speeds (gusts) as it clears east on Monday. That level of wind speed can knock someone off their feet. Yet Another Low comes in on Tuesday. . Not named, though.

Trust you'll have anything that can move battened down or moved to a place of safety :) You do get a lot of inclement weather up there. My wife once had thoughts of moving back up there but she agreed with me that with temperatures several degrees warmer here it wasn't a good idea not to mention regular heavy rains, strong winds and, as you have now snow, which most times we don't get down here.

I'm quite disappointed. I'm sure I'd posted that the Low out in the Atlantic (Wednesday) may well become a named storm as it was winding up nicely but, it seems,I didn't. It's now become a named storm, yet another one. This is the 9th one ..Isha. The one we just missed, which one report I read named it Isha, was actually named Irene by the French Met Office because it affected northern France along the coast and inland..hitting Paris. It was thought at one point that it would track across our West Country .

Lovely photo of the Eiffel Tower/Champ De Mars https://www.connexionfrance.com/art...-trips-as-snow-hits-Paris-and-northern-France

Storm Isha... 956mb at the centre. Very low https://www.netweather.tv/weather-f...-as-finale-in-a-very-windy-but-milder-weekend

In all honesty, I've not experienced anything more inclement than I did when I lived in South Wales. When I told my mates I was moving to Scotland, they said I'd never stick the weather.

The Beast From The East is about the worst I've seen here but that was more or less nationwide. We had extremely high winds in 2010 I think it was, it was called 'Hurricane Bawbag' and that was quite scary, we had over 100mph gusts. Apart from those 2 events, which could've happened anywhere in the UK, it's all just been what I'm used to.

Up North though is a different matter.

Currently 3°C here, breezy, not raining, not as pleasant as it was, despite the cold then.

There's a noticeable difference in climate in about 50 miles in Scotland. It's frequently colder and more snow where I live after just a 90 min journey from central Glasgow where it's less cold and no snow. Here in the Highlands the difference often in just 3 miles is amazing.

I'll often drive out of Aberfeldy in reasonable weather and get to Sma' Glen where it's pouring with rain, misty and bad visibility. Then you come out the other side and it's OK again.

Ayrshire is one of the milder parts of Scotland but along with Argyll it gets a fair amount of rain.

9-30pm and we have 2°C. Quite windy with rain in the air and getting heavier later. Temperatures are forecast to get to 0 with rain, that might be interesting in the morning.

My bold:

Well I'll be blowed :) We had a lovely holiday near Aberfeldy in 2022 and went shopping there. We stayed here. Our cabin was the one on the left.

We went to a superb butchers in Bank St. called McDonalds. When my wife went into the Co-op, behind the Jet garage, at the far end of the town I sat on the seat outside and a man had tied his dog to the seat and gone into the shop so I had a chat to it ,as you do.. :D When he returned we had a chat and I told him you wouldn't do that in England..it might be stolen. "No problems like that here" he said.My wife is from Newmilns, Ayrshire (just under 8 miles east of Kilmarnock) and people always asked her where she was from. I was ignored...Lol.

I'm sure the way back was over the lovely General Wade's bridge over the river Tay .It was only a couple of days ago my wife asked me if we should go back there to the cabin. When we left we travelled to Chanonry Point on the Moray Firth for a week to see the dolphins and stayed in the dormer bungalow behind the lighthouse (photo three) so a great view of the water.

Great drive back home passing Stirling...I could see the castle over on the left.... ..M9 > M80. Wonderful scenery.

1ºC here but forecast to fall to -4ºC so the cover stays on patio table and two expensive potted plants stay inside.Lol. It will the last night of below 0ºC as for most.
