Heat.

-1°C at 06:00 but no frost on the cars. Still not 'ot so heating's on so I can be reasonably comfortable in the shower.

The thread, rather weirdly ( for TP) has morphed :D

+1oC now -3oC overnight, and tonight is supposed to be -7oC.
Grey dull sky's no wind or frost on the cars, but my grass is still white

It has morphed, in a nice way too. Makes a change to doom and gloom. (y)

It did strike me this morning that when this thread started, we were talking about temperatures hovering around 30°C, which is way too hot for me personally. I think it got even hotter than that last summer.

Here were are today, talking about sub zero temperatures and in our case here, at least -10°C overnight. That's a 40°C swing (or so, possibly more) in those months.

Not long now and the thread will be about heat again. :LOL:

12-15 pm and it's just ticked over to minus -2°C. Beautiful day though.
 
It's 0oC here according to all the normal sources.
I nipped out earlier, and the car was reading -8.5oC
I don't think so!

I quite like it up around the 30°C mark - for a week or 3 at a time! As long as there's an air conditioned car or room to hand should it get too much (a shady bar or coffee shop will do at a pinch!!!) Immersion in warm sea water helps too, although I wear a stinger stopper top in there (easier than applying sun screen to my back...)

I went out in the car just now, and now its saying +1.
I'm guessing the sensor was just having a hissy fit, or maybe it had ice on it ( somehow) and longer journey sorted that out.
 
There's me saying, we never get a gritter in the street. Guess what did turn up today?

-1ºC as I post but overnight it's forecast to get to -6ºC and even lower in rural areas. That's the lowest in this region. I've put a cover over the patio table and all the chairs are in the greenhouse for the winter.

For the birds I put out crunched up fat balls with niger seed and bird seed in the mix late afternoon to give them energy to withstand the cold night and will put out more soon after sunrise..so aboput 8.15 am .Apart from the birds I mentioned in my post #1020, I saw a Grey Wagtail eating some which surprised me. It still hops around the pond edging-stones but,of course,no insects.I did a Google and I see they like finely-grated cheese but the person advising didn't say which type..lol. We have Red Leicester.

Mine said it was -10°C back in October and it switched on the heated screens. Not liking to do short running cycles, I just switched off the screens and ignored the thermometer - sure enough, when I next started the thing, it was showing a much more likely temperature!
 
Just been to the shop, street still unwalkable, despite the appearance of an endangered gritter earlier.

Car says -3°C, Alexa says -2.

There is always a selection ( 365 days / year) here, fat balls, mixed seeds, peanuts meal worms.

Extra strong mature cheddar here. They love it.

They will also eat meat, that incudes the pigeons if the magpies don't get there first.

We've got -4ºC at present but the regional news/forecast at 7.00pm had us down to -7ºC overnight .

In the morning I'll finely-grate some Red Leicester for the Grey Wagtail.. :)

Took my daughter to the bus stop as our street is like a bottle, unwalkable. The gritters don't come here, we have salt bins, which are hardly ever used. It's a long street and I ain't doing it alone.

It's a crystal clear morning though, no wind, clear skies, even now at 8am, I can still see some stars, stunning.

It's warmed up now though, it's -6°C. Time to get my shorts and vest on. :LOL:

I know I mentioned this a while ago about changing the title and you said that ancient_mariner thought it was funny..which it is..but as the temps have got to these levels now and won't get back,if atall to the 33ºC + we saw last summer I wondered if you and Cobra could have a chat and maybe consider changing the title to something like "Your Weather" or "The Weather Where You Are" (maybe a bit long, that one ) Perhaps ,between you ,you can think of a more appropriate/general title or even ask for suggestions if you think it could do with changing.

As I mentioned a few post back it looks like we're in for more heavy rains and flooding along with gales at the weekend..more so,Sunday, so, I think it will continue to be an interesting thread.
 
It's now down to -6C here so I expect it will drop further during the night. In theScottish Highlands it's forecast to get down to -15ºC in the glens.
 
"Only" -4°C here at 06:30. Not much higher now, at a guess. Extra layer on the course (and orange balls!!!)

Well, that was a cold one. We had some light condensation inside the windows this morning. The shower was used late last night and the bathroom door was ajar, letting steam into the house. The condensation was frozen this morning, on the inside of double glazing. The heating had been on through the night too.

Anyway, I'm not sure how low it got overnight, but both the car and Alexa said it was -12°C at 6-45am. Now at 9-15, it's -7°C.

It's a gorgeous morning though, I took the car for a run to get some proper heat into it and everywhere is that lovely white way, not a breath of wind just now and not a cloud in the sky.

I know car thermometers can be a bit hit and miss but Alexa agreed with this too.

Minus 3-C here this morning at 04-30, now up to 0-C with a fairly strong wind so feels a lot colder. Other than that a beautiful day with not a cloud in the sky at the moment.

I managed to get out at about 07-00 for a couple of hours or so but the wind & cold got the better of me so I had to venture into a greasy spoon down at the Harbour that the fishermen use for a totally unhealthy breakfast but the feel good factor was well worth it. :)

Not that cold here but the more snow overnight. I cleared the top of the log yesterday afternoon and it snowed 13cm during the night.

I was out way past midnight checking the pond, and the veggie filter, the dead reeds were protecting the outflow from the filter,
but the pond had frozen, I had to break the ice o make sure the water made it back into the pond, and repeat earlier as it had re-frozen.

It seems to be below 0 currently, clear sky's no wind.

I had to clear ice from the pond, had to drive to work unable to feel my thumbs :LOL: I've got Em on pond watch today, as the sun doesn't hit our pond at this time of year.
 
Similar here, re the sun.

My bird bath is a few inches deep, sloping sides, with a few large stones at the edge,
That is totally frozen, so I've been pouring small amounts of hot water in there to thaw that out.
The birds may not want a bath, but they will still need drinking water and with puddles ( etc) and the shallow end of the pond frozen,
it'll be hard to come by.

Yup, having thought about it, I'm going to leave it as is. The summer is coming and the thread will evolve back to 'heat', I'm sure. (y)




12-30PM, sun is blazing but it's still only -1°C. Lovely day though.

I've not long sorted the ice on my pond too, although being so close to the river, the pond isn't a biggy here for the birds as a source.

That's the only reason I leave the fall flowing in winter, birds seem to love the flowing water over the baths.
