Heat.

I've just checked on the hogs, and it's getting foggy here. Minus 6 predicted overnight. Freezing fog by the morning?

I'm not really south, 40 miles N X NW from London. Although a quick check and it's now saying minus 3 or 4

-3 when I took Mrs Nod down and -4 when I got home.

and............... we have snow. Not tons of it though, barely 1/2 inch. It started last night just after midnight and there's a decent fall this morning.

-3 overnight, currently 0 but a beautiful day.

Did someone mention heat!

Its a murky day here, its foggy, but more a mist than a thick fog.
Currently -2 with snow predicted early evening.

As long as he doesn't drop his clangers...

It seems the snow is now not dues here till much later tonight.
That'll save me making snow shoes for the hogs :D

-2 here and still misty this afternoon. I'm not banking on snow.

-2C here, too with mist coming and going..now we see the hill, now we don't . Snow forecast overnight.

Currently 0 degrees at 5-30PM. Nothing falling from the sky at the moment but it is cloudy and rain/snow is forecast for the next hour or so.

Very still and calm.

I think Scotland will see a lot of snow. As you'll know,of course, it usually does each winter but we, down here, haven't seen snow for several winters..well, none of any consequence.

This is good..I got an alert. Mr Cobra kindly 'did something' to my settings for me after I said I missed posts if I don't get a "quote alert" I assume it's because "it" can see I'm engaging in a thread. Marvellous. :)

I'll always remember, when my mates in Wales found out I was moving to Scotland, they said I'd never stick the weather. To be honest, I've never seen anything here any more extreme than I did in Wales. We are south of the Central Belt though, up north is a different matter, especially the Highlands and the high peaks in the Cairngorms.

Glad the alerts are sorted.(y)

that's exactly what happens. TBH it amazes the amount of people that have alerts set to no.

It's currently -3 here, and it looks like the snow won't be arriving now. Just rain in the early hours.
As an aside the hogs are still awake and feeding

It's just started to pick snow here. It's very light, I only noticed it because I put the outside light on to let Mutley have a sniff around the back garden.

Still 0 degrees.

Rain here at the moment and has been since the early hours, so no frost. Still bitterly cold though 0-C so I'll not be venturing out.

+3 here and drizzling, the snow never arrived, but the forecast is saying the light rain ( and possibly sleet)
will continue for at least 24 hours

0 degrees here, cloudy, damp and a bit meh although not raining. We didn't get anymore snow but what was left of yesterday's fall froze and will probably hang around for a while now.

If we were a few hundred miles North, "Dreich" would describe the weather perfectly. "Crap" will have to do!

From the above posts it looks like the forecasters got it wrong. Gloucester was on a yellow 'ice warning' overnight. At 7.00am there wasn't even any frost and it was raining and almost mild. As I post it's 6C and raining with 8C and rain forecast for tomorrow.

Still 0 degrees, has been, acoording to thermometers, Alexa etc for over 24 hours now. I'm not eniterly convinced, just been outside and it's feeling warmer, if that's the right word as it's still cold. Just covered the car for an early start tomorrow but it's just on the turn, condensation on the car windows but it's not quite frozen. My guess, just a fraction above 0.

Dry and calm though.

About 6 degrees and drizzling here. :p

It's very damp here, about +4. It rained hard most of the night,
although the map says its raining, and its supposed to be raining all day.
its actually not, not so far anyway.

Its just finally stopped raining here after well over 24 hours. Very miserable though but a little warmer +3.

Finally got above 0 here, although only just. 1 degree at the moment. Cloudy, damp and misty but no wind to speak of.

So nice not to have significant frost on the car this morning, a quick 2 minute hit of the heaters on tick over did the job.

We've had quite heavy rain all day from early morning and it's still raining....5.05pm. The next catastrophe the news outlets will be reporting on,especially in the south west midlands and the south west, are floods.

I watched this long range forecast earlier today. January/February near the end. I wonder if it turns out to be correct ? Infact, I'll save it and see if she was right. She says that Spain will have heavy rains and storms .We going to Tenerefe in February..to get away from our cold because late January and February are now our worst winter months . Bitter cold for Scandinavia is bad news for us as North Easterlies would bring it here. I hope the female narrator doesn't lecture because, if I were a student, I'd nod off.. :D

Here's a good website showing cloud cover. Looking at it for tomorrow it looks as though there's a clear spell en-route from the west.
