Fuji x100

Very very nice Trevor

Thanks Dave, I'll take that as high praise. I love your work.

I've not used my D700 for anything but my equestrian since I got my X100.
Always use it Commando, I want to keep it as small and light as possible.
It's my constant companion whenever I walk the dog (and it's not raining).

Love the thing..

I went for a walk around Burnham beeches at the weekend. The forest colours were amazing and the X100 made them look even better!!

Beautiful colours Lee and the little bit of handy work with the leaves and berries is good also.

Thanks, i love shooting with this camera. I have even started bringing my tripod out again now i don't have all my Nikon gear to lug around.
Reflecting on the images now i think iv got a lot to learn when it comes to macro photography.

What aperture should i be using? The mushroom was shot at f/2 and the depth of field is non-existent!

Gorgeous shots John..simply stunning. Did you have to wait long for that light ?

Thanks topgazza :) Yeah I was there for a while over an hour anyway. I took quite a few but these were my favourites.

incidentally, the first one was printed in this weeks Hereford Times (local rag)....Thats not necessarily saying much as I have emailed them 4 pictures in the last year and they printed them all

F11is a good aperture to use for macro if you can get enough light else use flash diffused. I will be doing some macro soon with the x100 and a raynox attachment.

Great stuff Trevor.........i particularly like the sunburst in the first shot:thumbs:

Lee.......superb set. The first shot is marvellous:thumbs:

Well finally had my replacement refurb from Fuji turn up yesterday ( took them a week to get me the pre-paid returns bag :( ) - it's a newer one serial starting 22, could even be the one Twist returned as it there is a very light mark near the tripod screw hole

Initial findings are the metering in similar conditions (though not as sunny as it was) look more normal and as I would expect :)

Well i decided to take the plunge today and went out and bought a X100. I wanted the Silver one but they only had the black model in stock so I came away with that one.

Had a quick play with it, not taken any shots outside yet

Anyone got any tips on how to set it up for street photography.

When I look through the viewfinder I see 2 rectangles that are over lapping, what are they for ?

Ian

@ianbarber
I've got mine set for street work. Iso set to fn button. Set to silent mode.

Had a quick look at the Manual, check out page 87....is that what you mean ?

They are to compensate for the parallax effect when you use the optical VF. I think you have to enable this function in the menus. You will notice when you try to focus on things closer than 3 or 4 metres, the green focus box moves down to the right when you are in focus.
Using the EVF means you only ever use the middle box as you are looking straight through the lens, so no parallax problems

In the day I just use f5.6 and the camera does the rest

At night I use f2 with auto ISO up to 3200 and minimum shutter of 1/30 with -1 underexposure.

Don't really wanna trawl through the whole thread...I've never used grads of any kind. But I love this thing so much I might break one of my rules and add something to the front of it.

Any help on kit would be welcomed, especially if you've tried it yourself. Thanks in advance...I'm thinking Lee but have no idea what to buy. It'll be for considered landscape and seascape stuff.

I'm using a Lee 100mm kit as that is what I use on my Dslr. It's great but is overkill a lens that only measures 49mm. Lee do a 75mm kit now which would be well worth looking at.

I will. Thanks for that.

Lovely images Phil and very cute Gav, one for the family album...

Here is one from a walk up the Malvern Hills yesterday with the missus and dog:

When it takes 8-10 hours to make, plus materials then £55 seems cheap to me.

Well I'd love to upload some of my recent X100 shots except Aperture doesn't recognise .raf files, and neither does PSE 10.... Any suggestions?

I use aperture with my x100 raw files, have you updated your version of aperture?

I have Aperture 3.4.3 on Max OS X v 7.5....

I have Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and the same Aperture version as you so maybe it is your OS X you need to update or is causing you to have problems
Have you updated the Digital camera raw? Linky

It will be your OSX. The raw updates are made to the OS and used by Aperture and iPhoto etc,. I'd be surprised if Apple are still updating 7.5.

Sounds like that could be the issue, I did update just last week but will look into it further - thanks a lot
