Fuji x100

Well, after thinking about it for a couple of days I've finally pushed the button and bought one.
I found a working voucher code and bought a refurb, hope I wont regret it but at a saving of about £130 over a new retail one I simply couldn't resist it!
I decided to take a long hard look at what gear I wasn't using and sold my 5DII and I'm trying to sell my 70-200 which leaves me with my birding/wildlife stuff.

I knew I'd feel lonely without some kind of camera for landscapes and general shots and the X100 fits the bill perfectly.
Having handled one I'm still a bit concerned about the wobbliness of the rear button but time will tell.
Thanks for all the informative posts in this thread that have guided me.

Oh no, sticky aperture blades (i think). Some shots are vastly overexposed...

Called Fuji, they are sending me packaging out today so i can sned my camera to them. Now do i ask for a new camera or a repair? The camera was purchased direct from fuji a month ago..

Was a refurbished from fuji. They have a camera in Stock with a serial number Starting in 2,am I right in thinking that these are less prone to problems?

Edit
Or should I get a repair?

I've spoken to them this afternoon, and asked if they had any with a serial number starting with 2. From what I've read they are much less prone to problems.
Still unsure whether to get that one or get a repair.

Ps its a lovely camera and their turnaround is supposed to be really quick.

I am still not sure about this camera. It looks and feels lovely but at the moment I am feeling a little out of sorts with it. Maybe now I have broken up from school I might get a decent run out with it.

Took delivery of my X100 thismorning... sadly as I was stepping out the door to go work... was a long 9 hours but I have finally opened it. Very happy so far, nice weight to it, looks beautiful.... can't wait to go out shooting with it! Going to Scotland next week aswell so hopefully some nice weather!

Excellent, were the monochrome and sepia set in-camera as jpegs?

No, I just used colour today and changed them in PP.

Don't want to bore people but I like to keep the thread fresh. I took my X100 to Hebden Bridge today. If you don't know it, its the gay, drug, webbed feet capital of the north :naughty: In all seriousness, its a gorgeous place, very quirky and old fashioned.

I've gone for the dated look for this reason:

2. I think this damage is from the floods recently.

I just bought the limited edition x100. Looks stellar. Battery is charging now.

Fantastic pics. Nice to see a bit of a thread refresh as I just pushed the buy button on a refurb x100.

Should hopefully get it early next week. I'll give it a few days test and then see about getting a spare battery for it.

Thanks for the inspirational pics!

Thanks. I've found it very different to any camera I've had before. It felt like the first time I picked up a DSLR when I first started playing with it. All other cameras are easy straight away, and although its logical and intuitive once you get used to it, it takes a bit of time.... well that's what I've found.

By the way, I do love it

Another one of my daughter, this time in my natural light studio (ie standing on the staircase under a skylight). She got the giggles but it was the best photo of the bunch

Still loving the x100. Toying with getting the wide-angle converter, though I'd really prefer a telephoto converter (if you are listening Fuji...)

A pro photographer friend has just ordered an X-pro1 so I bet I am going to be tempted once I see that too.

Got mine last week from the classifieds here (from Chris).

This is my third purchase of this camera.

I must say something has changed (apart from the price rocketing down) because now it is totally useable. I got very frustrated during my previous ownerships with this camera but the firmware changes really do seem to have done the job.

The AF is still bait slow but it's is workable , even with my 21 month old.

And while the images don't have the (for me) the gorgeous look of a D7000/D90 image they are certainly far superior to my 4/3s and RX100 images.

Now, for some decent weather!!

Dave, you have a Sony RX100 already? Any chance of some comparison shots with the X100?

Still not feeling the love for this camera; I want to because it looks gorgeous. Gonna give it a couple more days but am seriously thinking about putting it up for sale. Is there are a market for a fresh out the box x100 black? Am I being mercenary selling it? It was a prize.

Why is that?
Got mine coming tomorrow, could always send it back and buy yours:lol:

I see someone else is already trying to sell one in the classifieds. It is up for a bargain price of £850!!

Not that great of a price considering you can get a refurbed black one for £810 and a new one for £899 which I just did this weekend at Camera World. The black limited edition looks fantastic.

I don't want to 'poo poo' anybody's new purchase and it's all personal opinion/choice but I actually prefer the dual colour X100. It's looks more like the retro style I want. I certainly can't understand a £250 premium.

The limited edition for the prices I mentioned above comes with the lens adapter, UV filter, lens hood, a black leather Fuji case and a black leather camera strap. As a package it is not a bad deal if you like the X100 and those accessories. You aren't paying £250 because it is black......which looks better by the way.:p

The price being a limited edition and with the extras you get isn't too bad. But the black and silver looks much better. :P

It will be a very long wait :D
I promised myself I wouldn't use mine until I got a case, a pouch, a filter, an LCD protector (phew) but I couldn't wait so I've just used it round the house.

Following on from what I've read here, I used fine jpeg with monochrome to take a few shots indoors and colour macro in the garden.
I'm really impressed with quality of this camera and the quirkiness of its use will soon become familiarity I'm sure.

When I looked at the display copy in Jessops the back wheel was so wobbly as to be unusable. I'm much relieved not to find this on mine.

I'm really busy at the mo - just sneaking in a quick 5 minutes here. Will do in due course but there is a huge difference. RX100 is close to 4/3s quality but.x100 is into near DLSR territory.

PS I have all these systems and I am still one of the "luddites" who can see a huge difference in IQ between a DSLR and 4/3s quality - of note I'm talking about close up portrait not general photos or landscape.

Did the refurb come with the case, filter and other accessories?

They quote the followqing accessories on the fuji site:-
Fujifilm X100 Black
Genuine leather case
Lens hood
Adapter ring
Protective filter

Not bad for 810 with a full 12 month guarantee direct from fuji!

I had silver x100 and it was indistinguishable from new.
