Still, at least with the X100 I can convince my wife it only cost me 100 quid as she will think it looks very old![]()

The prices are starting to level off now it seems, DigitalRev are selling it for £859 on Ebay and £979 with lens hood and leather case.
Currently half way through saving up for an X100, give it another month or two and I should have one in my hands!
Lens hood and a leather case £120 extra?.

I could indeed Hoppy (and thank you for the compliments). That's the appeal of it though. It's a camera that comes very close to my D700 but is a fraction of the size and weight, and has a decent VF.
It's essentially what I'd hoped it'd be.
As an aside - has anyone seen the Fuji case in-stock anywhere in the UK?

That delightful daughter of yours is just cheatingShe's nearly as gorgeous as mine

Funny enough I was just browsing their site as the x100 is £899 there, so so tempting![]()

Had a play about with one of these in Jessops, found my fingers accidentally knocking a few of the buttons as it feels quite small in the hand. A guy in Jessops said their head office had 40 of them so they must be catching up with demand.
I don't know why folks are so wowed by this camera's image quality. Of course it's good. It has a (relatively) large sensor and a decent lens. How can it not be?
Unless you've shot with it, stop pontificating about it. It's an awesome camera, and what's wrong with it isn't wrong enough to detract from that even without a firmware patch (which is incidentally being worked on as I type). The IQ is as good or better than my D700 + 24-70 f2.8 at 35mm. That's good enough for me.
What is exceptional about it is the form and function, and the fact that it runs to f/2 for that lovely shallow DoF look.
Radiohead's pictures are terrific, but that's not got much to do with the camera. It's because he's a very good photographer, the dappled shade light is great, he's used f/2, and most important of all he has a wonderful subject. He could have got exactly the same result with any number of cameras and a fast lens.

I suspect that 40 is for the whole country though and I don't think that's even one per store which is why it's a home delviery only item on their website. I hear from my local Jacobs that when they got one in it didn't last 30 minutes before being sold.
Did you all buy the hood for it?

The autofocus struggles in a nightclub environment, with very low, low contrast coloured lighting.
I have had mine now for 6 wks and I'll be totally honest I can't get used to it. My other cameras are canon 450d and 5d mkii
I wanted a compact to carry around all the time I read all the reviews and it sounded amazing but I'm struggling with the autofocus it's not fast enough. I shoot mainly portraits especially kids I need it to be fast. It looks amazing though and I got the leather case here in Abu Dhabi for £45 so was very pleased. At the moment I'm 50/50 whether to keep it or sell it so if anyone can convince me to keep it please do
