One of the limitations of film, is not knowing if the result is what you want until the film has been developed and the opportunity gone.
Thats what polaroid backs for the Hassy/Bronica were for![]()
Nothing from me this month![]()
Not sure August could possibly be as "interesting" as the poster event this month! After struggling for ideas and almost chucking it, I ended up with too many ideas, and played with a trial version of Elements to try to make some of them work. I've probably learned more this month than any since the focus stacking trial in... March?
Brilliant result, Steve! I've no idea why you didn't get first place, although I've never (consciously) seen the poster that inspired the winner, so it just looks plain weird to me. Whereas yours shows a sustained degree of effort and artistic intention that to me is truly staggering. Heartiest congratulations...

Steve,
I have to say that your idea was my first and in March I took some photo,s of a friend with the beret, but, with an iconic Japanese mask, when I started work on the photo it was sooooo difficult I gave up.
Well let me tell you now Steve your entry in film was without doubt the best interpretation of an Iconic poster that I have ever seen and the operative word is Iconic.
My own personal view is it should have won bye miles, for two of the judges not even to rate your work in the top three is without doubt an amazement to me, but ha ho there you go.
Steve, fantastic, quality and beautiful film work. A massive congratulations.
Richard.
