Facebook - idiots and stupid posts

You don't have to have used something to have seen it used and to know how it works.
The fact is that to use FB's simple messenger, you first have to log in to FB.
Doing that means you get to see your feed or wall or whatever, and the potential horse poop posted there.
Use it, don't use it, I could care less; just don't claim the messenger service can be used without being "exposed" to FB shullbit at the same time 'cause it just ain't so.

You don't have to log into FB to use messenger, I just get an alert and chathead on the phone that tells me someone is trying to contact me,
click on that and you go to a private chat page, shows nothing on FB at all

Perhaps you missed it, but that's exactly what the conversation is about
That's why we were discussing the use of Whatsapp, I wasn't sure of the relevance of @Gremlin's post which is why I questioned it, it now seems it was actually off topic and not actually relevant to international usage.

Ok but this wasn't originally about that, yes I do know that OOF threads go off topic.
But my BT phone account does allow me to download an app that means I can phone abroad or phone home from abroad
should I need too as part of my home phone allowance as long as I have a wifi internet connection, it also allows me
to add 4 people who can also use, handy if you have kids

Is this a free service? The phoning abroad bit I mean.

This is a great thread.

6 weeks ago, i finally deleted facebook, after not being able to take any more b*llcr*p that is on there daily. For example

* ISIS posts/immigration related posts that people share without knowing anything about it

* people taking pictures of their dinner

* people mistaking facebook for a diary, and sharing every personal detail regarding their daily life

and last but by no means least

* People who actually do the "1 like= 1 respect" things. Or "like the pic and type amen in the comments....watch what happens"

IT'S A PICTURE!!!!!

I doubt i'll ever go back on there, it's mind warping people.

To be fair, this says much more about your "friends" than facebook. Can't say I see any of that on my timeline.

I totally agree, hence why i've now deleted it. It deludes peoples minds

Plenty of free options for calling abroad nowadays. Facetime, Skype, Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger are just 4 I use on my phone.

@Ricardodaforce, that was my exact point, to keep contact with friends or family abroad the easiest (and free) way is using calls or texts by Whatsapp, FaceTime etc. Some people are trying to argue that they are unnecessary as email, their BT phone and texts are the same (though tbf some seem to have missed the point about it being calls/texts abroad).
