I don't often look at FB, but yesterday went in, and the top post in my timeline was one of my friends liking a post which one of his numerous "friends" had submitted. I studied the post and the photos which were with it, and immediately smelt a rat.
It originated form a guy called Ahmet Akac (Turkish by the sound of it) who was obviously "sniping" at us in Western Europe over our response to the migrant/refugee crisis.
The caption under the post read:
"These aren't Syrians; they are Europeans trying to get to North Africa during the world war... So next time you think of closing the borders you might want to check with your grandparents..."
The first thing I noticed was the design of the ship - it certainly was not built between 1939 - 1945, and the second things were the two words/names on the stern of the ship - VLORA and DURRES.
I did some more research, and it turns out that these were not Europeans headed for Africa to escape the war, but 20,000 Albanians heading for the Italian port of Bari in 1991.

The sad thing about this, is the number of people who actually take this rubbish at face value and thank it.
