I would think that a comparison between EV used cars and ICE used cars will be valid when there is a massive increase in the number of used EV cars.
And the costs going forward of maintaining an older EV are more known, as a battery replacement would result in most cars being uneconomical to repair - in a similar way that a clutch replacement in a 2.5K focus might be deemed uneconomical as it almost certainly will involve a dual mass flywheel, and given the then age of the vehicle other stuff is also likely discs/suspension/etc.
At the moment there is a distinct lack of confidence in the second hand EV marketplace, hence the significant depreciation being experienced by EV vehicles. 60% in first 3 years being typical (AA figures) - when something like a Toyota Yaris (not disimilar in size to the smaller EVs) has something like 30% depreciation in the first 3 years.
