E-Cigarettes

The th is actually quite uncomfortable and I feel it in my chest if I take any more than 2 drags. Is that to do with the voltage or wattage?

Sounds to me more like the juice is too strong? What nic level?

I'm usually in or around 8 watts too. Does the job for me. I've vaped at 14w, and didn't find much difference, then at around 10w it'll blow the throat out of me!! Really depends on what juice I'm on too. You have to find your own 'sweet-spot' regarding watts and volts. If there's even a hint of burning, then you know you're in the wrong region and dial it down.

but if this is more strong TH, it might be too high a nic content for you personally?

The nic level of that one was 18 (what I've been using for the past 2 months). I eventually found a sweet spot for that one, though.

Just really struggling with this 11mg high vg sherbet.. less than 10 drags, barely any flavour, barely any vapour and used 1ml of liquid already..

Hmmm, that sounds off then alright. Might be the juice needs a good steeping. Put it in a cupboard, lid off, for 2-3 days.

I'll give that a go! I read the tank wrong, it's used 0.5ml of liquid already. Still seems like a lot though for what can't have been more than 10 or so drags?

I'm coming to stalk you! let me know what the cherry & vanilla is like please, i have one here from somewhere else and it's vile, can't taste any cherry it's almost chemical ish:gag:

Emporium vapours cherry is very nice. Haven't had it in moooonths though.

Come along, I don't mind sharing :D

Tried a few cherry juices to date, none of them were good tbh. trying this one as it's got vanilla too, and I've not tried a vanilla yet. I'm really looking forward to the fruit salad, I loved those sweets as a kid. And black jacks, that will be interesting! :)

Toni, if you are using the iclear 30 for the first time you will notice an increase in juice consumption. Or at least that's what I found. Also remember that there is a lot of wick in them so a good amount of liquid is absorbed and stored in the wick. All this added to wanting to use the new device more than usual adds up.

Higher VG juices will reduce the flavour slightly but in turn they should increase the vapour so I'm not sure what's happening there.

And lastly, don't get too confused over wattage/voltage.

Choose whichever method you prefer and stick to it. But I would highly recommend sticking it in VW and leaving it there.

When in variable voltage mode you set the voltage and depending on the resistance of your coil the wattage is determined
e.g. if you set the voltage at 4v and your using an iclear 30 at 2ohms then the wattage will be 8watts.
If however you change the coil to a 2.5ohm and leave the setting at 4v then your wattage would now be 6.4watts

However if you use wattage/power mode then using the same example.
With the 2ohm head if you choose 8watts the device will set the voltage to 4v for you to achieve the desired wattage.
If you then change the head to 2.5ohm and leave the wattage at 8watts the device will increase the voltage for you to just under 4.5v to achieve the desired wattage.

So basically if you find you prefer your regular juice at 8 watts then no matter what attomiser you use and what resistance it is you should always get the same result by leaving your wattage at 8.

Hope that all made sense!

Here's a link to a chart which maybe makes things clearer

That is really helpful Colin, thank you. The iclear 30 is 2ohms and I had it at 4v with 8w so spot on!

VW is definitely the way to go for anyone not sure about where they should be at settings-wise [like me! tbh]

Remember you are only ever in control of one of them either wattage or voltage. So 2ohms at 8watts can only ever be 4volts. If you switch between wattage and voltage you are changing the mode. So if you change over to voltage and adjust that instead then the wattage will change too.

Awwwww fanks!... i'm curious on the black jack too, they were my favs along with fruit salad, I've tried fruit salad from wicked eliquid and that was nice but i'm tempted to try Tims to see the difference..

you don't know what you need to be set at?:lol:

So I'm definitely better to keep the voltage at 4 and just change the wattage? I'm not in danger of burning the coils out and I just play around with the wattage?

The point is the voltage will not remain at 4v it will change depending on the wattage and resistance.

Much like aperture will change when in shutter priority.

So in wattage mode (shutter priority)

you set 8watts (1/200th shutter) and the resistance is 2ohms (iso 100) then the voltage will be 4v (aperture f2.8)

Ahhh now I understand!

I'll need to keep that chart thingy handy then!

Some good pointers given to you Toni. My iClear 30`s are at 2.1ohms and I vape constantly at 7.5watts. I have on a couple of occasions gone down to 6.5, that was with a Coffee liquid, I found that just gave it an overall smoother taste. I found at 7.5 with most of the liquids I have, that it heats the coils up slowly and then gets nice and hot, do not be afraid to hold that button in for four or five seconds whilst drawing on it Toni, hearing the fluid spitting away in there is what I try to aim for.

I just get a bit confused because a few people have said to stick it on a voltage that works and then play around with the wattage until I find what works for me but others (here and on UKV) are saying if I change the wattage, I have to change the voltage and vice versa.

I'm paranoid about holding the button in haha! I worry that I'm going to burn through it in a matter of hours!

Personally I would stick with the power wattage setting for now Toni. I think the iClear coils are around 2.1- 2.5 ohms. Set the SVD on about 6.0 watts, press and hold the button in for about four or five seconds and take a couple of draws on it one after the other. See what kind of vape you get. Do the exact same thing but at 6.5 and again at 7.0 and then 7.5 watts, you should notice the subtle difference. The SVD has an overload vape warning so you will not blow it

Don`t start confusing me Colin or else I could end up squirting E-Liquid down inside me 7D :gag: Whilst you are about Colin, would you be so kind as to give me your thoughts on the Scar? You have had it a while now I think so I assume you have used it a fair bit.

Okay, well it's the SVD with an iclear 30 tank.

I've got it on 3.7v and 8w (7.5 not enough th, 8.5w too much th).

The th is good but there's not much vapour. Is that where the voltage would come in?

I can't really comment on taste.. I've never had this liquid before! I can't tell if it tastes burnt or not o.O

With the ego t, I was lucky to get a week out of coils/tanks. I'm kind of hoping it might be a different story with the SVD..

Am I right in thinking all is well now Toni with a change of coil? What concerns me more about this shot, why are there still edible things left on the plate :rules::rules: :D

Not a change, no just a bit of tightening on the current one! :D

That muffin has been there for about 3 weeks

 Although I am looking at the chocolate covered things :D What flavours are you trying there Toni?

Chocolate covered things? Where?!

The SVD's got pear in it with sherbet in the other iclear 30 and the ego's got strawberry in - my default flavour haha

I think he means on the newspaper, initially i thought they were a plate of biscuits too lol.. are they wooden?

Haha love it... it did look like a plate of biscuits to start

Well I have tilted my head Toni and it still looks edible :D ;)

Only actually got it on Tuesday, but I'll give my thoughts anyway. I've tried about 6 different builds with it so far and cannot get it to match or better the flavout/vapour I get from my knock-off Igo L. I love the look of it and love the fiddling with dual coils but just cannot get it working the way I had hoped. Sticking with the Igo for now and I've got another couple of drippers on the way. Although one of them won't be dispatched until next week.

I'll keep a couple of them once I've decided which ones suit me best.

I do much prefer using a dripper to a cartomiser though and if it's something you haven't tried yet I highly recommend it. Far easier than re-coiling protanks or novas.

Presumably you saw the picture on UKV but for anyoone else that is wondering what we are talking about (and since this is a photography forum) here is the scar on an ego battery.

Oh now that looks quite sleek, i quite like it... :D

when i eventually get the svd i shall be hounding you all about this dripping business and how it works and with what:D

Thanks for that Colin, it does go to show I suppose that not every combination of things suits everybody, but like you say once you get it right it might change your mind. Oh, I am really hooked on the little Smoktech dripper, and like I say would like to move on to something with a tad more room on the terminal posts for dual coils at a later date, as well as having the well at the bottom of the tank to hold a touch more juice. Just keeping an eye in the classifieds over there for something at the right price. My problem is, as soon as something comes along, by the time I have googled to see what exactly it is and how it performs, the bloody things have been snapped up

Just opened the dekang ice cream I got in the post today and gave it a wee smell... I was expecting a creamy vanilla... it smells like the mint chocolate liquid I ODed on and now the smell alone knocks me nauseous :bang:

Here is my preferred dripper, the Igo L on the SVD.

One of the main things that makes me favour the Igo is that I can overdrip without problems. The scar has the airflow under the wicks so over dripping causes these to flood.

I saw Todds review if the scar. Looks good. I'm looking for a 2nd dripper ATM. Might have to try one.

You can't go wrong with an IGO-L, though. I use mine a lot.
