Certainly an "awww" shot. You've captured one contented expression. It's great how they find that patch of warm sunshine every time!

Nice image ... fits the theme well

Lovely, happy looking puss! Well caught.

Certainly an "awww" shot. You've captured one contented expression. It's great how they find that patch of warm sunshine every time!

I have a FLIR camera which shows temperature rather than visible light and that explained why our (much loved and missed) cat chose to lie in a few spots that were most inconvenient - they are about .5°C warmer than spots 6" either way.

Week 11 Technology

Janome by Keith Johnson, on Flickr

Technology here allows a drawing to be converted into an embroidered picture. Firstly, computer programme to design and set the choice of stitching, colours and order of sewing to achieve the desired result, sent to the machine, when the human is satisfied, and the start button pressed. Put the kettle on and sit back to watch it happen.

Wow! That's neat, and a I suppose pretty much the same as 3D printing except to fabric. A nice bit of kit and a well composed image Keith.

That is very cool Keith, I didn't know they had anything like that outside of commercial shops.

That's amazing, if I could draw the image in the first place I'd buy one, I expect they are ludicrously expensive though.

Very clever! Like Bill, I didn't realise they were available for home use.

My wife can disappear for ages when she has a project ongoing! Trouble is it’s learn as you go and need to understand the programming and use it regularly, or great frustration when something gets forgotten

Wow what a fabulous machine. I wouldn't mind playing with one of those. I can imagine there must be a bit of a learning curve.

I really like the way you have presented it with both the controlling software (I assume) and the finished piece. All nicely lit too.

Nicely on theme and a well executed image of something l never knew was available for domestic applications.

That's a lot of tech involved in something that is classified as "handmade"... how times change (says the old crafting bird!)

Nice one Keith. Afew bob to be earned with that :)

Week 12 Discarded

Dewalt Mitre Saw
by Keith Johnson, on Flickr

I have been up- grading the shed to a work shop, plenty of wood no long required and a lot more before finished. The mitre saw has discarded this lot so far...although some has made it to a neighbour for their log burner.

I would like a powered mitre saw myself, and have a hand one which works well enough for my useage.
For me it looks a bit too tidy, but the theme is fulfilled.

At least you've not discarded too much... good take on the theme.

Maybe you can make a birdhouse out of all the bits of wood?

Week 13 Flora

Flora Dianthus
by Keith Johnson, on Flickr

Native Flora to Britain, the Dianthus or Pinks...not because they are pink but because the edges of the petals look like they have been trimmed with pinking shears.
Tolerant to hot summers and cold winters, just like my example here. Thought it was summer last week and now winter again, but surviving!

Love the sparkles you've captured in the frost.

Colours are great. The contrast between the pink & green of the foliage works well

Very nice colours Keith, I have no luck growing them...

Week 14 Unusual

Fiat Multipla
by Keith Johnson, on Flickr

Day trip to a Goodwood Members Meeting last Saturday. Had a good look round to see if I could find something 'Unusual'.
There were all sorts of different cars of all ages, but found this interesting little Fiat, never seen one before and thought it fitted this week's theme.

That's very cool Keith, I think that I might be scared to ride in it though...

That's great, It's must have looked practically space-age in its day.
