Darkslinger's 52 Week Challenge - 2022

Great set of shots there, I think you picked the best one with the colour range, reflections, textures, all working well.
Thanks Alan.

No shortage of "P's" there! I liked your chosen image best - all good though.
Thank you Cahterine

Thats a lot of P's. Great variety.
Thanks David, it was a pretty easy challenge. Like someone said in the chat thread, it's what I start with every day.

A prolific and plentiful provision of P photos - perfect

Seriously, a great set. My favourites are the puddles and the pillows.
Thanks Bebop, I debated with using the colour version of the pillows. All the dark ones are red.

Some cracking images you've captured on your walks. I'm with you on #2 - the reflections are great.
Thank you Helen, it was the reflections that caught my eye.

Certainly picked the right one.
Your processing suits the image.
When I saw it I thought you were going to say Pair.
That's funny Peter, I didn't think of a "Pair of Performers" until the next day and then I didn't want to go back in and edit the text.

No.3 and 5 for me, especially No.5, very creative :D
Thanks Alan, I'm really happy with how the pans came out. This particular shop is an upscale furniture store which changes its display regularly..

Your contributions are more intriguing every week Bill and I always look forward to seeing what you come up with. My favourite this week is the pillow shop, closely followed by the pizza outlet.
Thanks for the kind words Pete, I figure if I'm going to do this I have to make it interesting for me and hopefully that translates as interesting for the rest of the group :D

I missed the "Solid" shots when you posted them. What a cracking set. The mono ones worked really well. ( Bonus marks for the best shoehorning so far this year!)

Pizza photo very nice. I also liked the Ping Pong table.

Many thanks Donal, you had me chuckling with your shoehorn comment.

Week #25 - my choice...

I took a number of shots over the last few days that I liked here are a few:

Along the boardwalk in New Westminster there are many planting beds that the residents take care of, I liked these bluebells that have gone to seed:

And the seed heads from these flowers make for an interesting image (I also like how the colours from the other flowers came out in the background:

Jun 25-22-16.jpg

Walking towards the carpark, a little impromptu, pseudo self-portrait:

In in one of the shop windows:

On Saturday the Halal Food Festival was being held at the city hall plaza so we went an checked it out. The food was amazing:

Jun 25-22-7.jpg

And I thought that I'd take a few shots of the crowd to to an artsy, multi-exposure image:

Jun 25-22-10.jpg

And I thought that I'd include this shot, even though it was taken just before the start of this challenge. I was up in Kamloops for business and saw the clouds against the hills so I snapped a few:

Hey Bill

Thanks Pete, I had many more flower images, just no room to add them...

Quality pictures in that set and great variety. The B&W cloud landscape is my favourite and reminded me of Ansell Adams.

The food festival is the stand-out shot for me, full of character
Thanks Alan, I'm trying to play with multiple exposures with Stephanie Jung as my inspiration. Her images tend to cityscapes but the thought process is the same (at least in my mind). It's a fun technique with lots of possibilities.

Nice set Bill. The food festival shot for me, lots going on.
Thanks Simon, as above :D

Thanks Simon, I would probably have used that shot as my primary but it was just a couple of days too early. The funny thing is that it is just a quick grab from where I was on top of the car park at our head office in Kamloops. You might never suspect that I was in the heart of the town :).

Thanks Peter. I like how the multi turned out.

A great set of shots.. looks like an interesting walk. I think I'm with you on your chosen shot... great dof and detail.

Week #26 - 1/2

Mulled this over for quite a bit and decided that this challenge would give me the opportunity to put my OM-D E-M1 through it's paces insofar as its IBIS. So, the following are all shots taken at 1/2 a second, hand held. No placing the camera on a stable surface, no tripod.

These first two are shots of the midway rides at the July 1st Canada Festival in Cloverdale:

Canada Day-2.jpgCanada Day-5.jpg

This one is five images of the crowds taken with the camera held above my head. Blended in Photoshop.

Canada Day-6.jpg

This is from a my attempts at panning. The lady and with her child photobombed my shot as I tried to follow the white car. So, an unintentional outcome, but I liked the result:

Canada Day-8.jpg

This is just a simple shot of a city waterfall:

Canada Day-12.jpg

It was raining today so I went downtown and tried panning people and got some interesting results. I liked the man's purple umbrella.

Canada Day-13.jpg

And this is a water feature that was spraying everywhere (in the rain...):

Canada Day-18.jpg

I always like shooting this crossing because of the bright yellow paint:

What a good idea and selection.
I like your blended image, also the purple umbrella is very good. That would have been my choice.
Really enjoying your thought processes and pics in this challenge Bill.

What a great selection.
No.3 is my favourite.

Thanks Peter and David, I sometimes think that some of my images are too far "out there" for most to appreciate. Glad to hear that others like them as well. :D

A great idea and some really interesting pictures. Well done on both counts Bill :D

Intertesting set - with the best one chosen :)

What a terrific set Bill. I think you’ve chosen the best one for the theme, though, l love the umbrella one.

Playing catch up a bit,
starting with P. What a fantastic set of images and story using P to explain……. Got to be the best post so far in the 365 threads.
Snappers choice, again strong images. Never tried multiple exposure shots, I’m being honest wouldn’t even know where to start, and shows what can be done. Brilliant.
1/2. Really liked your take on this, never thought of a half second exposure. I suppose in Scotland seeing as it’s so damned dark that’s our normal exposure time so that’s normal right haha.
Look forward to seeing what’s in the next ‘alf year

Thanks very much Scott. Given Vancouver's on-again/off-again rainy weather lately, I'm getting used to the 1/2 second exposures as well.

Hopefully second half is just as fun as the first half.

Week #27 - Post (up close and personal)

Not to much to add to these other than I thought that I'd try to find some posts that had some interesting colour, shapes5post.jpg2post.jpg3post.jpg6post.jpg and/or texture and take close-up shots...

These three were massive support posts that had coloured pipes attached to them:

9post.jpg10post.jpg13post.jpg

There's quite a lot of posts if you took around. Nice colours on the last three Bill
Thanks Simon, those were posts that help support some of the buildings on Granville Island (a year round public market and well-known tourist destination...)
