Darkslinger's 52 Week Challenge - 2022

Excellent set. Each has something I like, can't pick a favourite.

That's nothing short of beautiful Bill and well done for rescuing Cooper and Gracey and giving them a good life :D

I'd "like" that picture a hundred times if I could :D

Thanks Alan, they actually sat still for me to take about 10 shots. I liked this one because they seem to be smiling for the camera.

Not sure if it's me, but I didn't spot the link to your thread. It's such a lovely shot I couldn't miss out on commenting though - they are adorable. Love their expressions and can see why you treasure them.

Thanks for pointing that out to me Bebop, not sure what happened there. Thanks for your comments as well. Hope you're feeling better.

That’s a very special shot Bill. Two beautiful treasures.
I like the composition and the setting very much (but not as much as those two lovely dogs!)

Yeah, that fits the bill. To be fair you could have taken a rubbish shot of that pair and it would still be great!

The buttercups make a beautiful frame, it really sets them off. Being mega-picky, I might have tried to get rid of the gate, but it's a small thing, and the expressions of the dogs hold my attention well enough.

Thanks Pete. They are sitting in a field in a local off-leash park. We take them there and to other off-leash areas quite regularly.

LOL, thanks Nick, I'm laughing because I consciously made an effort to include the gate... :D

I thought that the "little bits of gold" that the buttercups added just took the treasure theme a little further...

A totally awwwwwsome shot! I absolutely love their ears and the setting is fabulous. Excellent.

Week #23 - Solid - it's a shoehorn week.

I was at a local Car Free Day festival where the community blocks off a street and sets up booths and and activities. This particular event included a breakdance battle. Having some connection to that scene I was lucky enough to be allowed to shoot some of the dancers as they battled. What I realized is that the battlers have to have solid footing in order to do many of their moves.

Here are some of the images, I took. I've had some fun playing with a bunch of different Lightroom presets. Hope you enjoy them.

Defo a horn of shoe - but great pix :)

Excellent!

I love the look to the camera in No.5 :D

Great pictures, well captured and processed. I like them :D

Thanks Dave, gotta have at least one horned shoe in the year :D

Superb shots Bill and I love your chosen one. The tiled flooring and viewpoint really add to it.
Thanks Bebop, I had to use that one for my chose shot, that's my son...

Excellent!

Thanks Alan, I definitely included that one just for that reason. I was lucky to get it since the young man was spinning at the time.

These are all great.

I was going to ask if they were OK with you taking shots, but as you mentioned one was your son, I guess it was OK.

Really like the low viewpoint and wide angle.

And the timing on some is excellent.

Thanks Kell, yeah the local bboy scene is pretty low-key with everyone pretty comfortable with people taking photos. This event was very public so I wasn't the only one taking pictures and/or video.

My son has been into bboying since he was 7 or 8 (he's 25 now) so a lot of the local dancers know me.

I probably took about 1,200 shots, edited about 300 of them and they all went up on my wife's facebook page. The few here were just some of the ones that stood out for me.

Loving the pics and defo used the right one, irrespective of it being your son, for me its the tattoos and viewpoint. Would love to have seen this, although wouldn’t have had a clue on how to shoot it LOL.

Thanks Scott, my wife used to organize youth bboy battles and I got co-opted into shooting the stills and the video. That experience has served me well with shooting other events, but it was all trial and error. A lot of fun though :)

great set of images, which do fit the theme. I really like the processing on these, great job.

All great shots tbh.... I would find it difficult to choose one. Loving the processing too.

A great set Bill and an inspired take on the theme. I do like the processing on the colour shots and I love the black & whites.

It's hard to pick the best.

Week 24 - Begins with P

So I did two photowalks this week (Friday and Saturday). I went to Vancouver Friday evening and the very first picture I took was of this Phone that had been Placed in the Plaza:

-P-.jpg

I continued on and went down the steps to the Robson Square rink where I saw these Performers Practicing by some Puddles:

2.jpg

I walked down Granville street and there were these Pillows aligned Perfectly in a window Pane:

3.jpg

As I continued towards Gastown I saw this Person Peering into the Pizzeria while a Patron Peered out:

4.jpg

I also Perceived these Pendulant Pans and I walked down the street:

5.jpg

The next day as I was walking to a local coffee shop I saw this Parking sign Pointing the way while a man was waiting Patiently to Perambulate across the road:

6.jpg

When I got my coffee I realized that what I had done was Purchase a Perked Pick-me-up:

7.jpg

As I left the coffee shop and crossed the square I spotted this random Ping Pong ball lying on the Pavement in front of an outdoor Ping Pong table:

Great set of shots there, I think you picked the best one with the colour range, reflections, textures, all working well.

Some cracking images you've captured on your walks. I'm with you on #2 - the reflections are great.

Certainly picked the right one.
Your processing suits the image.
When I saw it I thought you were going to say Pair.

Your contributions are more intriguing every week Bill and I always look forward to seeing what you come up with. My favourite this week is the pillow shop, closely followed by the pizza outlet.
