Times were once tough in the Mariner household, so I was grateful for Pheasant a la RTA provided it wasn't the Pebble Mill at one version, and rabbit if available. I also have happy childhood memories of mackerel fishing trips, where one would gut & clean the catch on the beach afterward just to save the weight to carry back.

I'd be quite happy to kill all the meat we ate, but if necessary I can go veggie (mostly ate vegetarian in India because the 'meat' wasn't always the bits I'd choose to cook).

on the other hand if I had to grow my own veg id eat even less of them than I do now.

I would think that the company probably charge the farms for disposal of the chicks - win/win for them (but who'd be a male chick?)
