Corky's 52 - WEEK 25 / FREEDOM & RESHOOT

Not at all Jean!!! I was being very critical of my own work and felt your comment just about summed it up for me....thats how I felt. Please feel free to continue commenting. I enjoy it whether it be good or bad.

Jon

Thanks Jon - I'm enjoying this 52 challenge and I would be horrified if I lessened anybody's else's enjoyment of it. :)

Week 5 - Opposites, and a bit of Irish fun

Jon

You're only allowed 10  and  per post. It's not enough for this shot - what a brilliant take on Opposites. And well executed to boot!

btw, where did you find green grass and sunshine?

Jean

Just caught up with your 52 Corky, I like you learning very good, and despite your difficulties I think you did a good job with surprise......

But Opposites, well I don't often laugh out loud so thank you for brightening my day with that, love it:thumbs:

I'm a massive Rugby fan. Brian O'Driscoll is IMO Special. One of the best Rugby players all round. Shame he plays for Leinster and not Munster, but at least we have him for Team Ireland!!

Not taken by me, but another special moment taken last week, with me holding the most famous trophy in world rugby, the Heineken Cup (which Munster seem to keep winning...funny that!)

Well I know very little about rugby...I did see Brian O'Driscoll score a try today off the telly...and talking of the telly that's the best photo I've ever seen taken off a TV...

and anyone in the world could tell that cup is a bit Special to you...

Likewise for me re Rugby (football, golf, tennis - you get the picture :))

But that is an amazingly clear TV shot!

One man's special is another man's 'Who..?' :)

Well done on getting week 6 in the bag :D

What a great TV shot, best I've seen too

And it looks like anyone trying to take that trophy off you is going to have a struggle on their hands :naughty:

Keep it going Corky

 I can't manage to do this without the flickering either. And good to see some rugby in these challenges as well :D:D:D:D (Even if it is Ireland ;):p )

I didn't think I'd see a Corkman with his hands on a trophy this year. lol.

Looking good for a 6 Nations to go alongside the silver in your hands. Just need to do something to distract the Celtic cousins for 80 mins in Cardiff

Great interpretation of what's special to you. Nicely executed T.V shot

Took this at the Dublin boat show on Friday....The guy highlighted had the well worn face of a long term seafarer. Unfortunately, he was also a little light on the thatch, which did not help with the desaturation. Anyway i've named this "The face in the Crowd".

I like this but think because of the hair from the main character it's not working too well.
Was the shot so bad that you needed to desaturation it but keep the man in colour?
Can't help thinking it would be better all in mono...I would like to see that if possible...

Heres the original, I think I have to agree with your comments

I think the all colour version works better as would all B&W. The people on either side make nice leading lines into the main character. Great composition and right on theme.

Your putting a lot of thought into this again. Well done

I like the way the subject is isolated by being in colour. It is always difficult to mask hair 100% and this is where the shot is slightly let down, however I still do prefer it to the original.

For me, I wish the shot was isolated around the three central characters more as the two either side of the foreground are too prominent and so out of focus they cause too much of a distraction. It's almost like two pictures in one.

I really like the effect of your original idea, but agree that the hair isn't quite right.

I also think having the three central characters in colour whilst the rest is in B&W would make a great shot too.

Well done, good take on the theme.:clap::clap:

This is a really interesting shot. I don't think the full colour one does it justice, (the background becomes too distracting), but on the other hand the colour in the selective colour version is a tad oversaturated.

The 2 sets of people at either side lead the eye to the central character, and the fact that he's the only one facing forward is very powerful. I think I'd like to see him a little less saturated (and the hair wouldn't be such a problem then) or a contrast boost and full black and white.

Well done for spotting such an interesting and well-formed group.:clap:

Jean

the colour popped version really makes him stand out, but the hair is a bit odd, and maybe reducing the saturation would make it look less weird. I've read the other comments with interest and hadn't realised the strengths of it, until I did, although I do really like it.

Thanks everybody for the comments. I've redone the selective one and desaturated the color somewhat...It does look better now IMHO, but still not right. Apologies for not commenting on other 52ers work, but i'm up to my **** work wise. promise I will get round to it

I like the edit much mroe than the original, although i am still not sure the selective colouring works.

Thanks Jean, Toothie

Jon

I like the Emergency sign above his head and the serious look on his face, the last of your versions works best for me.

Good effort that and great to see you tweaking it to get the most from it.

Hi Corky, sorry you're having a hard time workwise and hope it lets up soon :(

Of the 3 versions I much prefer the 3rd one. Great composition with the other 4 people leading the eye into the face in focus :clap:

Thanks for the kind comments....I'm sure we all have busy weeks!!!

Lessons learned
1.Don't throw out piggy banks when your child outgrows them
2.Don't expect your wife has money for the pic
3.Don't expect to be given it, anyway
4.Expect to give it back!!
;) ;)

Very good, that's worked really well, I like it too. Nice one Jon

Really good shot. The note theme of the piggy bank really fits the theme. Maybe some more coins on the top to reduce the white as the backgrounds also white? NIce one.

Excellent interpretation for this week...it's on the money...

It took my a second or two to work out why it was all euro's...

If I had to be picky...I would had liked to have seen all of the coins around the base of the piggy bank so none went out of shot...making it look more like it was overflowing...but still it a great shot and I think your best so far...

Good idea....I hadn't thought of that.

Thanks for the comments everybody

J

It seems to me that these days it is getting harder to prove who you are, and it wont be long before we have to fingerprint or have eye recognition to do anything. Already the US fingerprint everybody landing in the US. What next, TP ???
