Daily Carol's 365 from 12th December 2012 - A Year of Happiness

We have snow :( Not much but enough to make me want to stay in the warmth but.... I had to go out so took the camera and called in at the Lake as I was passing. The water is frozen and the poor birds are looking everywhere for some food - even the Heron was stood at the side waiting.

I took a few photos but this one is one I like as it shows the snow (have to have at least one snow shot in my 365  ) and the birds looking for something to eat

Poor thing! You should do meals on wheels and go back with some food!:lol:

was thinking that and then got back in the warmth and decided against going out again...... will take them some tomorrow :)

Thanks Sarah :) with the amount of bread they get its a miracle they are able to swim or fly .... greedy little devils they are

Thanks Jake :)

Lovely Carol!.. i really need a bird shot!... Don't think i've ever got one as yet!

Thanks T :) You can have some of these birds here if you want ..... loads of them .... but not in our garden :(

Cant blame the Moor hen for being out of the water, cant be warm to sit in at the minute!
Nice shot Carol

Hi Carol, I like the coloured houses shot, a good angle. Get some meal worms for the Robin, they love them.

Thanks Michael :) rightyho .... they are dead arent they? wont be able to handle them if they are alive  :nono:  and will that keep him there for longer than 2 seconds?? so I can get a decent shot :)

He looks a little out of place in the snow  was his pond a little icy

very - frozen over again except for one tiny place which was full of ducks :(

Cant blame the Moor hen for being out of the water, cant be warm to sit in at the minute!
Nice shot Carol

Thanks Phil :)

Yep, dead and dried :D If you have a pound stretcher near you, they do them at stupidly good prices.

phew .... thank goodness for that :) have one in town so will have a look next time I am there ... Thanks Michael :)

He does look a little forlorn doesnt he...good shot though

Thanks Tezz :)

Love the shot of the houses, I really like those houses that have alternating colours on streets!

Never mind about the robin, well done for getting it and keeping it going . And even better, you went and snapped that heron, which is a much better shot than you're giving it credit! Loving the DOF and black against snow. :)

Thanks Conor :) I'm up to day 40 today and hopefully will keep going until the end :) or my brain frazzles - whichever is soonest

In a rush again today - at work till late and had so much to do this morning so no chance of getting out :( But I managed to get this one of my flowers :)

Called it 'A little piece of sunshine' because the colour always reminds me of sunshine and I think we all need a little bit today with all this snow :)

Excellent use of DOF, looks like you're starting to get to grips with that lens now :)

oh no ... wont be doing that :) just learning bit by bit :)

carol... the yellow flower..the dark background is confusing me?? there's something going on in the upper half..

It's the cloning I had to do.... bit rushed and must have either missed that bit entirely or not quite got it right :(

Saw this earlier on FB and thought it was lovely - nice to see a bright flower on a grey day. :)

I get pulled over about cloning...but that's usually the police wanting to know which is the real me??

I like your coot shot, it captures the current situation very nicely indeed. Your flower is very will lit too, good work!

Thanks Lynn :) thought it might cheer everyone up a bit :)

It certainly brightens the day up :-)

Thanks T :) started the day nice and bright and ending it nice and bright :) - Pizza and film with Glenn and Conor (stepson) - not done that for ages :D

why does that not surprise me?

Thanks Tim for the lovely comments :)

Oh that is very nice Carol  the lighting is very good and the focus is spot on

Thanks Matt :) Both my flashes have given up the ghost (batteries I think more than anything serious - well I hope ) so just on camera flash :)

I like the shot of the houses in Blackpool! Definitely worth going back to for a reshoot. Old-fashioned houses with a 'modern-art' look about them - lots of mileage there I reckon.

I like your flower, Carol, it's a great colour and the composition's great as well as the focus. I didn't notice the background when I first looked at it - always good to have so many sets of eyes for feedback! :)

I know it's another flower but I had another long busy day at work and by the time I got home all ideas had disappeared so I decided to have another practice run with the Macro Lens and have to admit I'm quite happy with this one - a set of about 10 of them :) Changed the aperture which is something I hadnt actually had a go at before and increased the depth of field ..... seemed to do the job :) Learning all the time :D
