Carol it all seems to be a little soft and a lot happening in the shot imo.
One thing I have learnt since doing my challenge is try and plan shot by looking at the surroundings !!
Thanks Vince ..... Was actually thinking that myself .... a lot happening in the B/G. Had an hours walk today and nothing at all caught my eye - grey skies, damp (and bit of rain) so when I saw them I thought they might work okay - this was the best out of the lotMight mess about at home and see what I can do
Will plan better next time![]()
I fully understand about the conditions outside etc and this is when your imagination will kick in and you will start seeing objects differently Carol we all have days like thatI fully understand about the conditions outside etc and this is when your imagination will kick in and you will start seeing objects differently
The beauty of the photographers eye never one the same![]()

. I was part of a cloning process many eons ago so you might have a point... They broke the mould but kept detailed plans no doubt... Darn those government facilities offering free sweets for dna samples..
Woo hoo i am finally home and can use smilies again!!hope your xmas was good Carol!.....
There's no point me pointing out what everyone has said, this time of year can be a nightmare for photos and weather just doesn't play ball... The positives is you are out searching hard and it is still a sweet shot, i like it..![]()
Wonderful Heron photo'smuch better than I've ever managed to get
I think that I'd crop the winter berries a little tighter though
Matt
Can't believe you gave it away for a toffee!!![]()
You should have tried for a water droplet, looking at your images you'd probably have got it.
It's just a glass bowl about 6 inches under the tap, fill it with water and catch the drops as they fall, don't have the water dripping too fast.... aim at about just above the level of the bowl... You can use coloured card underneath your bowl, and a different colour behind it.... Can't quite remember my settings, other than I used manual and on camera flash... But I can look them up if you like.
I tried it on manual with the camera flash but if you could look up the settings then that would be great These are super carol, water looks so lovely captured! well done you!![]()

It was dib dabs Carol.....they were so crafty in those days..I felt used.....
I'll look up the settings when I get on my laptop, my bowl was placed on a board, which was over the sink, to get it the right height, the bowl was filled with water, it was better than using a glass, for me anyway...Thanks Leewill definitely try that way - had the bowl upside down as well as the glass. am trying to think what else I could use behind the glass bowl rather than card ....

Carol, in your bowl of water, you could always add food colouring, although, I never did......
My settings for the water droplet shots I'd posted here that you'd looked at ...
I used the kit lens 18-55mm on my Canon 500D or my 40D
Set my camera to manual, with on camera flash - 1/250s f5.6 ISO 100
I hope that helps....
same lens for me as well .... canon 1100D, manual, camera flash on .... all same as mine including ISO down to 100.
Will check the 1/250s and f5.6 .... just been on flickr to check the exif data and nothing there anymoreOh well will try again tomorrow
Thanks for all that Lee - much appreciated
