Kinda tempted by these A33/A55 cameras nowI reckon my chunky 16-105mm would look pretty cool on it
![]()

no ! it won't !
I think the killer lens on the a33 would be a 35mm prime or something wider. small nifty beast !![]()
Indeed. I reckon my 28mm Minolta Prime would be right at home on there! It's perfect on my A200 as well but felt a bit stupid on the A700. I still think it'd be cool to have a massive chunky lens on such a dinky body though![]()
the same coolness ! To be honest I think my next upgrade may be something like that. A high performance camera in a small package (no bigger than my A200) as the reason I didn't get on too well with the A700 was because of the extra size of it and is the reason I went back to the A200.
In other news, hopefully receiving my Sony 11-18mm tomorrow, looking forward to trying it out!
I read somewhere else that the 33/55 have 30% light loss due to the translucent mirror.
just charging batteries then il be doing a 50mm f1.4 sony and 50mm f1.7 minolta test.
any ideas on what to do?
A55 £749
A33 £649
warehouse express pre order.
pre-order my a%% , the same with 85mm and 35mm lenses. or the sigma 85mm f1.4 seems like they're waiting for the photokina.
Same as jessops
I think i'll wait so see the new 7** before i upgrade to decide between that and the 580.
Haven't tried that one in particular, I use the official one on my A450, the official one for the A200 isn't that much more expensive than the one you bought.

can someone explain to me why they need a mirror (translucent) for the new alpha-55 and 33 if they are using an evf instead of an optical viewfinder?
focusing?
Correct, The phase detection focus sensors are mounted in the top of the mirror box (where the pentaprism/pentamirror should live for an ovf) instead of in the bottom off the camera. So the light/image path which would be used for an ovf is directed into the sensors from the mirror.
HTH
guys !
MD lenses with adaptor feels good on sony or doesn't . how's the IQ etc. I'm after some cheap primes again. and there is one auction finishing soon
+ it looks like I would need an adaptor with a glass to be able to focus to infinity ?
the lens in question is 50mm f1.7 md
test possibly coming tomorrow, got called into work today so couldnt do!
a few questions, has anyone got an official battery grip for the a850 or a900? has anyone tried a third party one?
oh and where is good for batteries, i dont mind third party as thats what i used in my canon 5d and never had a problem!
), so I can't really comment apart from to say that I always feel the need to use --> Andy - what are your views on 50mm f1.7 MD ? I hope mine will be delivered soon. Won the auction, to feed my camera gear buying addiction![]()
