New to this forum - Hello all.

A bit of fisticuffs going on over at AVForums re links to 'competitors'.

Someone referred to this site so I hurried on over and registered.

Looking forward to learning lots and seeing some different pictures.

I await an A300 body from Jessops so I can attach the Sigma 28-200 I used to use on My Minolta S505i. Will replce my Fuji S5500 which is a great compromise but limited.

Can't wait to get out and use it.

Welcome Boynielaad.

So what are they saying about us? :suspect: :D

Sorry, didn't make that clear.

The Mods are deleting links to competitor sites (mainly, I understand to prevent access to sites such as 'Smug' as people were selling photos / gear)

Nothing was said about this forum but one of the members referred to it (as a competitor in their post) -probably to wind up the mods.

Don't worry, I was joking! ;)

So what sort of photography are you into?

Nothing specific.

I lost interest for a long time for no real reason.

Recently rekindled when I realised I could use my old lens on a (now affordable) DSLR and when mother in law was decidedly generous at Christmas.

I'll try a link to my Flickr page so you can see what I've done recently - no great shakes!

Oops - that link may have given access to passwords etc.

Could you not get the A300 from Jessops, they're cheaper than Pixmania anyway.

Well Pixmania have offered me credit on it which has allowed me to stretch further than a D40 or A200 anyway so I would have preferred to stick to Pixmania,

Well I think I will just wait and see when the A300 is back in stock, spoke to Pixmania who have suggested that Jan 21st will see more stock so thats just over a week, by the time I had sorted out the finance and everything again for an A350 it would take just as long.

Don't you mean the A350 is £140 more expensive?

It didn't seem that much more expensive actually, but even at £40 more expensive I'm not really wanting to fork out the extra, not convince the extra Megapixels are really worth it.

Hello & welcome you have come to the right place.

pfft barking mad ;)

I'm thinking the stock issues are widespread with the A300, Pixmania have suggested it could be end of January but that it could equally be the end of February, thats why I'm thinking I could just pay the extra £40 for the A350.

So why the shortage/price hikes and how much are they charging for an a300 nowadays...body only or plus kit lens?

So why the shortage?

I think people have realised that there is life apart from Canon and Nikon equipment and caused the suppliers to be on the back foot. Once the stock issue is sorted then I can see the market share of Sony being quite high in 2009. As long as the price rises don't keep on coming.

I'm hoping to get the x2 converter sometime this spring too.

when i was picking up my A700 last friday, the salesman told me that they had sold 200 or so A200's leading up to christmas, and 8no D60's......so that hasn't done sony's ambitions any harm i should think..

If you're looking for the 2x converter, I may be able to help you out there. ;)

Hi there ladies and gents. I'm kinda new here, and although I've already made a formal introduction in the Welcome board, I figured it would be good if I was to introduce myself to those with Sony's as well. So hi!

I've got a 200, along with the kit 18-55, a Sony 75-300 and Minolta 50mm 1.7 AF (which I've just recently bought). I've also just bought a Lowepro Slingshot 100 AW from Chris L off of these forums, in addition to the Lowepro Rezo 160 which I already owned. I needed more space to keep my goodies protected.

I've been playing around with the 'Nifty Fifty' and am loving it (especially the DOF). I'm over the moon with this purchase. :D

Anyway, hey! I'll be posting some new pics taken with the Minolta within the next few days or two, so watch this space!

Hello matey! :)

I see you live near Martin Mere. I love that place

I do indeed. It's like 10 minutes drive from where I live. I've yet to go down there with the camera, mainly due to weather and work/college. Hopefully when the sun starts to shine more frequently, I'll pop down and really see how well the 75-300 performs. Until then, it's mostly experimentation with the other two lenses.

And I realise that I've only just got my 200, but the A700 makes my mouth water too... ;)

If only money wasn't an issue...

Damn it! just missed a Sony HVL-F36AM flashgun on ebay for £50 :bang::bang::bang::bang:

Hi there guys,

New guy here and new to the whole SLR game. I have just recieved my order of a Sony A200 and it really looks like a nice piece of kit, just waiting for the battery to charge!

Now my previous camera was a Kodak DX6490 which for the money and time it was released i thought was a really good camera, although im pretty sure i will have to start from scratch with my first SLR. :)

Now my first queston is, what next? I have purchased a Compact Flash Extreme 4gb memery card and a Sony soft case. Now a friend said i really need to buy a UV lens  to protect my lens. Can anyone recomend what i need to purchase because i really dont have a clue! My mind was boggled just trying to get my head around the Instruction Manual!:help:

I mainly like to take shots of cars at car shows but i really want to expand onto Landscapes (Going to New York this crimbo) and i love the pictures taken which include car lights trailing across the picture (if you understand me?)

Many thanks for anyone who replies and i look forward to my time on this forum.

Hello & welcome what you need is a UV Filter to protect your nice new lens.

Mmm...looks as though there maybe a few peeps looking for some kit.

Got some bits & pieces left over from my 'Ca**on back to Sony' detour :cuckoo:

Not enough posts to qualify for a listing in the classified section, so if anyone is interested, PM for info. Might save me a trip to fleabay.

Details & pics here
