Yes
**** me this is hard work
Got a letter yesterday telling me I can now have infinity broad band I thought yipeeee as my current bt connection speed is a massive 0.9
Tried to do it on line but we get an error message , I thought this bodes well
Thought I'd ring the 0800 number instead and play the multi options selection game for a bit lol
Finally we are at the right option and unlike their customer service someone answers in the sales dept no surprise there really.
What a saga with this pushy Scottish sales women what part of no I don't want BT ****in vision did she not understand and then we got the line rental at 14 quid odd I said it says 10 quid online ,so it's hidden in the small print I said, no it's not she replied it is clearly stated sir in the small print did you not read it in the end I had to hang up. All I wanted was unlimited high speed broad band
who the **** trains these pushy ****ers I get free phone line connection worth 135 I'm already connected with bt I wouldn't expect to be charged for a line I already have

I decided to go back online when we get to testing for my order we get the error again, I decided to read the small print and proceed with the order on line, I find hidden away that if i don't make two calls a month min I get a £1.50 additional monthly charge ffs
so your monthly line rental is 10 quid odd if you pay it all up front for 12 months
interesting monthly line rental charge that lol

so if I can now get infinity High speed from bt why is my current broad band with bit only 0.9
whats the betting when I finally manage to order infinity high speed it turns out to be infinity low speed

here's todays test which according to bt's site says my line test shows I will get a min 3.5mbs with normal broad band I have spent 18 months moaning to British Indian Telecom lol

Sorry but I do have too laugh.....the reason is because I have had the same customer service skills from bt sometime ago and it's pleasing when you hear others banging their head against the wall !!!

Sorry, I know it's mean and I don't mean anything by it :)

******s, the lot of them !

My internet regularly grinds to a halt in the early hours of the morning...

but sometimes it will run just fine...

Drives me up the wall when it happens, usually whilst I'm catching up on something on iPlayer and need a steady stream :bang:

This isn't BT Infinity though, it's through Utility Warehouse with whoever they use in my area.

Virgin Media in your area?

From an unspecified secret (work) location in London ;)

I'd be elated if I could see a down load speed of 6
your upload speed is pants though even when it is working
Have you tried phoning BT customer don't care

when I moved here in oct 2010 I was sold the bt vision package spent the next 6 months moaning as bt vision won't work on a bt connection of 0.9

what's the betting all I'll get when I upgrade is a bigger bill and my speed will be the same with the usual [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] that it is the distance I am from the exchange I can see the ****in exchange with my 7d with my 55-250 from my upstairs window
when surely you ****in new that when you stitched me as you are BT
I am not looking forward to calling customer don't care at BIT (British Indian Telecom )
Wonder if calling Bt every month will qualify for the min 2 calls a month I have to make save me being charged an extra 1.50

BT = British Tosscom
British Terriblecom
British Testiclecom

Well it makes be glad I'm not the only one that suffers the BcrapT service though this

is x10 better than what I was getting 6 months ago, but still worse than what I was getting 6 years ago :suspect: and still no sign of them wanting to invest money in my village yet in the same time the local town has had 3 upgrades since our last upgrade, if I had another option frankly I'd be telling BT to go fornicate with themselves

I am winning with the best slow connection award lol

Never had a problem with BT. Great service!

By the time I get something downloaded I can make a cup of coffee- go to the loo- do the washing up- polish the car and even squeeze in time for a fart on occassions.:bang::bang::bang:

Reslspeed

I have just had BT Infinity installed. Took the "pay a year in advance" option for the line rental and have actually reduced by monthly broadband costs a little (was on the BT Total Broadband before). The engineer was fine, only took about an hour or so to do the necessary. Speed went from c.6Mb to 37Mb+. In the paperwork (electonicwork?) there was an estimate of what would be provided in terms of speed and what I received was very close to it.

And to the OP, the better speeds are because the link from the exchange to the green box is fibre with Infinity and so it is your distance from the green box that is critical, rather than from you to the exchange. (You may know this already, but I didn't see it mentioned elsewhere here.

Anthony.

yep already know that but they are bt wires which are probably 50 years old still and sod all I can do about that

It's not right that they charge everyone for the upto speed when they can only supply you a ****e speed

it's only great for you as yours works wait till it doesn't work and you have to ring the customer don't care line

I have dealt with them, not for me though, for a mate who knows nothing about computers! Sorted him out no probs!

well they can't fix my speed issues and it was once 3meg
I have given up calling them they don't care

nice speed there paul
would you like to pay 36 per month for my speed though lol
just spoken to talk talk cheaper than bt for the high speed and so much more free
and a far nicer person than the people I have spoken to at bt
same speeds as it is the same bt exchange and wires

Thought I'd post mine. On O2, better value and much faster than BT can offer; and no Virgin here!

strange that as they use all the bt wires
I recon I have a line fault but bt say I don't even the phone conversation is noisy at times
they want to charge me to come out and test it

Ive been getting a stable and reliable service from BT for the last year, and this thread is not good for my nerves as they called me yesterday and offered me infinity for a 5iver a month less than i'm paying for dsl.

Now considering they only called at 17.30 last night, an engineer came and carried out a site survey today !

I thought it was fibre to the cabinet, but apparently now the engineer will call on the 12th and fit an optical line upto the house with a small box, and then on the 26th another engineer will come and do the internal installation and setup.

40mbs max is coming to replace my 4mbs max :D

BT might be a bit upset with their operator if speeds are slow as he's mailed saying it'll be 36 mbs minimum !!! :naughty:

They may use the same fibre/copper/aluminium lines but if the ISP isnt in the exchange then its no use....I have two gren boxes out in the street 15 m from my house...one is a fibre cab and the other is the older copper/aluminium box...

Sxy told us we would get a minimum of 6 meg from the analogue box....crap...we get about 1.2 meg tested on 'my bb speed test' now Sxy have kit in the exchange so we can now pay an extra 10 to switch over...Damn robbers/Liars

Ps this is at my girlfriends not mine lol

you get a different story every time you speak to someone at bt
I was always told it was your old copper wires to the exchange and it is only fibre from the exchange
thought it was only virgin that fibred to your house
has your contract expired how can high speed fibre be cheaper than adsl
you got that in writing lol
How much you paying now

Those with very slow speeds, have you done all the usual troubleshooting to rule out a problem with your internal cabling? Do you have neighbours with broadband who you can compare speeds with?

FTTC = fibre to the cabinet FTTP= fibre to the premises

Infinity has limit of approx 1.4km from cabinet

Bt spent a couple of weeks before Christmas fitting fibres all round my estate, so there's definitely fibre in the street, the access point is in my front garden too so it's only a small hop to the house. We don't have overhead cables.

I wasn't aware that the contract was up, I've certainly had no notifications from them to say it was up.

The new cost is going to be 32 inc line rental instead of 37

FTTC is the green boxes, then its copper to the modem in your house.
FTTP is fiber to the house, which promises to be bloody quick

i just went from 1mb to 30mb with sky unlimited FTTC, £20 a month and £11 line rental, BT will traffic shape you all to hell, Sky dont(or havent yet!)

FTTP must be on the agenda then, i know i'm going to get yet another bit of kit to go next to the hub :( but i'll have real usable speeds \o/

Another fantastically slow speed, well done Sky/BT

Mine will hit those extremely low speeds in the early hours of the morning for 15-20 minute periods, oddly almost always starts just after the hour. It's as though they're running scheduled maintenance except it's happened for ages.

I've given up with internet in this area TBH. We live in a small village and are way down the list of priorities. Peak times see our internet speeds plummet because each box has to provide internet for so many people over comparatively long distances to in the city.

As long as I can watch videos without buffering I'm happy. That usually means waiting until after midnight and being patient when it routinely grinds to a halt mysteriously.

I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that BT are the worst company currently offering a service of any kind in the country.

Closely followed by Sky.

I would sooner pay more just to never have to speak to Bt customer don't care ever again
sky tv I sacked in 2003 it was off more than it was on

I'm quite happy with BT. My speed went from 1.x download / 0.125 upload to 37download / 8 upload and then a few weeks later to 56 download / 18 upload when I went to infinity and then infinity 2.

Customer Services were fine, spoke to an Englishman when placing the order. From order to install was 4 days, including a weekend.

I'm with Plusnet who were a BT reseller until a few years ago, when BT bought them out. I'm happy with my broadband and luckily Plusnet still provide their own support which has an excellent reputation.

No fibre here yet, the exchange is only on 21CN (ADSL2+, up to 24Mb/s):

We've just upgraded from ordinary BT broadband to Infinity and we're getting 35 plus meg speed most of the time. Only took two weeks from order date to installation too. Well happy.

What about sky fibre unlimited? Dirt cheap, and piggy backs on bt infinity - 35mb down, 1.7 mb up for me now, and no download limits!
