BBC ... you should be very ashamed of yourselves.

You're still missing the point that two channels serves the vast majority of the public. Very few people in the UK need 8 continuous hours of, say, handball or weightlifting.

The BBC will show - and switch between - the sports of main interest to the British public. So we'll still see ALL of the track cycling, for example.

I can't understand why you find it hard to see that for the most comprehensive coverage of the Olympic Games, Eurosport will be broadcaster to go to. Do you have something against Eurosport? As for the comment "Very few people in the UK need 8 continuous hours of, say, handball or weightlifting.", makes you wonder why the BBC invested so much in the Olympic red button service, even going to the expense of broadcasting HD feeds.

You said - and I quote - "in terms of quality coverage, Eurosport will be the place to go."

I reckon they'll struggle for 10 percent audience share in the UK.

I'll see you back here in four years...

What on earth has audience share got to do with it?

If you think Eurosport will have the "best quality" Olympic coverage, that multiple streams are largely significant, and that the BBC won't have the best commentators/pundits - all points you've raised in this thread - you must be pretty confident of high viewing figures for Eurosport, eh?!

No, because the BBC will (still) provide what the vast majority of UK viewers want/need from Olympic coverage.

Errrr I think you are getting a tad confused. The BBC is available on all platforms isn't it? Eurosport is not.
That alone will have a massive impact on uk audience share.

I thought 2012 worked well with having separate broadcasters.
For C4, having only the Paralympics meant they threw the kitchen sink at it. Had the same broadcaster had both I can't help thinking the Paralympics would have got less coverage.

After having seen bits of the C4 Paralympics coverage and the Last Leg that accompanies it and it's all been very good, their presenters (many of whom are disabled) are doing an excellent job.
