Another comedy Dash Cam video

"Setup after he was nearly killed by a hgv..."

What was, the company or the accident?

Might be worth clarifying that before we get carried away again. :)

Ah bless the comedy continues.

He's made a statement on his website:
http://www.mattstockdale.com/statement-of-Matt-stockdale/

It's all the BBC's fault!

If he'd only post the full video, rather than allowing the bbc to edit, post to his youtube channel, remove a video, post another heavily editted on...
And now it seems we have "another" conflicting" statement, from the previous one.
Every time he comments he loses credabillity,
now, whether or not that is the fault of the press, or the BBC remains to be seen,
Lets hope that he takes his own advice ..
As such, I shall not be making any further statements, nor will I respond to any emails or posts until the police have completed their enquiries.

Matt Stockdale

To be fair, there's one small part of that statement which is true of his driving.
my first thought was to show him I’m here and that I am a danger.

This shatters a few myths (from his website):

that, contrary to what some believe, there is no personal injury claim, and therefore no fraud;
• that the reason for my being taken to A&E was mainly due to a suspected pulmonary embolism, not whiplash injuries as reported;
• that the HGV driver allegedly told paramedics he was unaware of any accident, but then later remembered when questioned by police;
• that every panel on the offside of my vehicle, from the rear bumper to the front wing requires repair.

So because he says it, it must be true?

If he was completely innocent in this affair then why did he speed up as the lorry driver tried to move back into the middle lane?
Why didn't he simply move over, to the completely clear inside lane, or simply accelerated away, when the lorry came up behind him and flashed him?

Personally, I don't think it was a publicity stunt, although I had initial doubts about the personal injury claim, but I basically think that the lorry driver p***ed him off. He was maybe on his tail for most of the 50 mph limit and decided to antagonised him by not moving over or keeping to the same speed. Then when the lorry driver overtook him in the outside lane he sped up to keep him in there only relenting when he realised the driver was coming back over regardless of what he was doing.

Just my opinion of course, I obviously wasn't there, but the from the video's I have seen it seems a reasonable assumption.

I travel that route quite a bit, and there are average speed camera's along there, (having said that, a lot of them have now been removed).

Some drivers don't understand the concept of "average" I see it all the time 3 lanes doing 50-ish and the odd driver, both cars and lorries wishing to go faster,
by driving up the arse of the car in front,
maybe he felt it was his duty to make sure "everyone" was sticking to the limit?
I'd just move out the way, and let them get on with it.

I guess we will never know for sure.

Every panel damaged, so he posts images of two small dents.?
He's blameless, so he pulls the main video, leaves a heavily edited on on his youtube channel which is now said to be done by the BBC?
The police called an ambulance as he complained of pains in his neck and shoulder consistent with whiplash
He didn't slow down, yet the original video shows him slowing down and speeding up?,

Amazing how the story changes, he's completely blameless.

Easy to prove he's innocent - post the whole video, all angles, including the boring 20 miles at 50 mph

Has anyone heard anything to suggest the lorry drives disagrees with any of these points, the last two in particular?

The one that baffles me most is why would he tell the paramedics that he had no recollection of an accident? its nothing to do with them, even more so
that the "victim" was being treated for a suspected pulmonary embolism, and not a physical injury.

From NHS direct:
The symptoms of a pulmonary embolism can sometimes be difficult to recognise because they can vary between individuals. However, the main symptoms include:

chest pain – a sharp, stabbing pain that may be worse when you breathe in
This is after he was taken to hospital for neck and shoulder pains. I do hope Mt Stockdale isn't driving if there's a possibility of him passing out, feeling faint

Maybe it's routine for the paramedics to check people over who've been involved in an accident, but initially the lorry driver played dumb?

I don't know but that's one possible explanation.

I haven't seen anything that suggests the driver is contesting any of those points I listed though, and I'm sure I even saw it reported that that the lorry firm's insurance had already accepted liability for the damage to the car.

As I mentioned a few posts back, he passed a perfectly good hospital just of J13, yet continued to drive another 20+ miles.

I saw that too, and apparently the driver of the lorry was "dismissed" although he was only temping.
And I can't find anything where the driver defends himself.

I really don't know, especially as it was reported a few posts back that it was allegedly a "mock up" after a recent near miss.
More twists and turns than a switch back ride ;)

Based on the issue I had with a Tescos van, they are happy to just pay up and get the incident over with, especially as this had hit the news.

Re the part in bold. Is that in reference to Byker's post where he said something was "Setup after he was nearly killed by a hgv..." but doesn't say what?

Is he referring to the accident? Or the guy's PoliceWitness company?

It's a very important detail and the statement is totally ambiguous (some might say "misleading" ;)) until we know what it's referring to. I've asked him to clarify (twice above) but have had no response yet. ;)

I'm pretty sure I also read it in one of the links posted, but can't find it again, it was either removed from the site or I've been dreaming again :D

A quick Google doesn't turn anything up. If it was known that he'd deliberately set up an accident, then I'd expect it would be all over every report of this story by now but there's no mention of it anywhere??

It would be really helpful if Byker cleared this up instead of letting people assume the worst. :)

It wasn't the accident that was set up, but the actual "chase" after the fact.
A re-enactment type thing, after the damage had been done.
I'll have another look and see if I can find it, but as I said I may have dreamed it

I'm sure Byker was referring to the company being set up though, nothing else (It would be really helpful if he would explain). Have another read of what he said:

Double page spread in the Sunday times, police witness and it's spokesman mentioned well. Setup after he was nearly killed by a hgv according to the article. Costs £156 to join and you can submit footage and they'll try to get the insurance company to reduce your premium because you are a member with a camera.

So, very good publicity just before commercialmas

Unfortunately, you can see from the following posts that yourself and Tigger took it to mean something sinister or underhand and call for his head. :D

If that's true then he wants prosecuting for playing games on the M1.
And the false article(s) that followed.

So he is in fact a liar with an agenda, as well as a complete cock then?

I see what you mean it can be taken either way.
and call for his head. :D
I wouldn't stop there, I'd have his bowlox too :D

Exactly. Do you see why I asked for clarification?

Still waiting... :)
Well...... While your waiting.....maybe you could give a likely explanation for other anomalies, such as not moving into the inside lane, or driving slowly in the middle lane of the M1 and why he speeded up as the Lorry tried to overtake?

There are just too many unanswered questions for me to accept that he is an innocent victim of a crazed Lorry driver

Read his statement on his website. He answers at least two of those three questions.
