Another comedy Dash Cam video

Really, and hogging the middle lane (something weve all been guilty of) deserves potentially being killed
 
Got news coverage for the car driver's DASHCAM COMPANY, didn't it? Not saying that the lorry's antics were any more correct than the car's staying in the middle lane when the inside was clear, just pointing out that the driver may well have been rather less scared than he claims to have been - would YOU stay in such a vulnerable position after first contact when there was plenty of clear, safe space to your left?
 
Two things leap out of that report:
1: Mr Stockdale said he honestly thought he was going to die, and was shaking uncontrollably.... Then he should have briefly pulled onto the shoulder, gathered his wits and then continued.
2: Mr Stockdale owns a dashcam company.

And all becomes clear.

Conclusion? Both drivers are idiots and Mr Stockdale's business is going to increase due to free publicity.

The story seemed a little strange when I started to read it but when I came to this bit
Mr Stockdale, who runs a dashcam company, followed the lorry to a depot in Dunstable where an ambulance took him to hospital with neck and shoulder pain.
I nearly peed myself laughing :lol:

Where there's a ( potential) claim there's blame :D

I had a guy all but catch me up on a 4 lane stretch of the M1 this morning, I was in lane 1 doing the limit, the stretch was very quiet and this guy was in lane 3 and there he sat for several miles,
nothing to over take nothing on his near side :rolleyes:

The car should not have been in the middle lane. The lorry looked as if it pulled in far too early but it is difficult to judge the relative speeds, or if there was any change in speed, of the vehicles.

However, I agree if I had just been clobbered I would have probably pulled on to the hard shoulder for a while. Also can't understand the second video when the car driver is in the nearside lane. Having just had the first incident I would have been very keen on keeping well back from another lorry that was overtaking me.

Seems to be very little damage to his vehicle for a lorry to collide with at speed. Seems to be very little movement of his car when the lorry allegedly hit, most people would have swerved into the inside lane.
Also, when we fist see the lorry from behind, are those his hazard lights flashing reflecting in the lorry? It's not the lorry flashing

The lorry of course in the the poo for going into lane 3 whatever the out come ;)

Unless the hazards were going , he thought the car was slowing and he took avoiding action thinking the car would be heading for the hard shoulder...

And of course that's what he would use for "mitigating circumstances" if he has any sense :D
But I'm not convinced he'd get away with it The bloke in the car was being a tit as was the lorry driver looking at that.
I guess we will never know what the out come was.
 
Reports elsewhere..

The police seem to be getting blamed but a little damage like that is an insurance matter not a police matter, he should have learned after the first incident, but instead waited 14 minutes before overtaking the lorry and slowing down to repeat the process in the next county with a different police force, and then not getting a response repeated it again with a third police force, all with the same lorry, not surprising if the lorry driver was getting annoyed!

he was driving southbound to his home in Northampton, and ended up in Dunstable - at lorry speeds, about an hour beyond his home, and only then needed the ambulance

The types of vehicles not permitted to use the right hand (offside) lane on a motorway, which has three or more lanes open for use by traffic travelling in the same direction are:

There are exceptions to this rule, which are:

  • for a vehicle to change lane during a period when it would not be reasonably practicable for it to do so without involving danger of injury to any person or inconvenience to other traffic.

That would be when a lorry was in the outside lane of a 2 lane road when it opened to 3 from the near side, not as he see's fit.
he has no other reason to be there unless passing a wide load.

But he (Stockwell) certainly appears to have issues with lorries that's for sure.
 
there are people out there who stick a dashcam in their vehicle and go looking to cock other drivers up so they can post the footage on the likes of youtube and youtubes full of them
this cretin seems to be doing exactly that to promote his business
it's a pity the lorry driver didn't have his own dashcam i bet it would have told a completely different story

You really have to question how the lorry came to having to over take him twice? That alone makes be believe the guy is a complete cocktard who had gone out of his way to be an inconsiderate motorist in order to create a situation, the reality is however the lorry driver bit/rose to the baiting when really hey should have known better

Fair to say I doubt we shall ever see that, really would be epic if the lorry had some cameras fitted :P
 
From what I can see from the footage available........

The guy recording it was sitting in the middle lane when he shouldn't have been as the inside lane was clear and from the reports of the incident then went out of his way to antagonise the lorry driver to get a reaction on his cameras.

The lorry driver shouldn't have acted the way he did but I can imagine his frustration having to deal with a complete cockwomble like that (as well as others) during his working day who are putting and other road users' lives at risk.

The lorry driver needs to be reprimanded but it would be outrageous (IMO) if he lost his job over this and/or faced any legal action.

The car driver on the other hand needs whatever can be thrown at him for acting like cockwomble and potentially putting other road users' lives at risk by (IMO) antoginising the lorry driver.

I think you've just hit the nail on the head there.
Unfortunately though what the lorry did was wrong and did endanger the car driver, provoked or otherwise.

Looking at the video it does look like he nudged it, the way it ( the car) moves.

According to the write up, apparently doing some £3000 worth of damage.
 
my take is that the footage starts after the initial set too, when the lorry is approaching you can see a flashing orange light reflecting on the front of the lorry, maybe he got in front of the lorry to say, pull over you've just hit me.....

but to then continue the pursuit and get take to hospital due to neck & shoulder pain is only done to serve one purpose.... to make a claim for injuries, and i very much doubt he sustained anything like that from a tiny side swipe that left bearly a scratch on his car

The damage appears to be a small amount on his rear wing. You'd have thought it would have been the front wing and a lot more than that.

The lorry driver, who lives in Bedfordshire, was employed by Wincanton hauliers through an agency. A spokesman confirmed he is "no longer conducting deliveries".
Liability for the car damage has been accepted by the firm's insurers.

Seems there is now pictures of the damage, looks pretty horrendous to me :D but 3K's worth?

The driver will loose his DL for a period I would think........what ever the circumsatnces he has no excuse for useing the right hand lane and Brake testing the car driver in the left hand lane as well as flashing him and getting way to close while in the middle lane.....he is way out of line driving a 38tonner with that agression. He should be made to sit an anger management course while his ban is in force......

I can't find the quote now, but thats what he's claiming plus he was taken to ( presumably Luton and Dunstable) hospital, so there is a few more K's in compensation, waiting to happen,

From the video it looks like the car driver has his 4 ways on, and not the lorry flashing him.
But I agree he was a tit, although he shouldn't have re-acted to the tit driving the car, either.

I'm surprised how many people seem to think middle lane hogging is as severe as deliberately swerving an artic into the side of a car. Actually, no I'm not. This is OOF after all. :D
