Alan Dorset 52 for 2025 Week 52 New

Good eye Alan, I like the play of the shadows on the stairs.

Yep - nicely seen and shot :)

Geometric 2

Also in Poole, had potential but somehow couldn't get the right picture. It's a sculpture of a bottle knot, continuing the nautical theme. I will probably return to this at a future date.

Nice set of parallel rules!

I prefer the B&W (but I am almost always biased towards B&W).

Colour for me but then I’m always biased towards colour Not sure about the knot shot, perhaps a wider shot would work.

I like the colour one better than the b&w Alan, but that being said, I think that I like your shot of the scupture(?) best.

I'll go with the bw version, and that sculpture certainly looks like it has potential.

Good shot for the theme, colour for me

Thanks all. Proof, if it were needed, that art is subjective and personal.

First outing with the English Heritage member card, to Hurst Castle overlooking the Isle of Wight. Fascinated by the lighthouse stories and the Fresnel lenses, of which this is a particularly complex example

Your chosen shot certainly is a superb Fresnel lens.

Fab and interesting set. I think I’d have tried the chosen shot in mono.

These are awesome. I do like your chosen one the best.

I bet that becomes more light than dark. Very good.

Figures 2
by Alan Webb, on Flickr

This is the "quarter o'jack" at Wimborne Minster, painted as a grenadier guard in Napoleonic times, from which the figure on the side of the building on the other side of the Minster green is hung.

Yep - well seen Alan :)

That’s different, would think quite unusual to have a painted figure on a minster

Ticked to a T :)

Interesting shots Alan, your vertical image almost looks an cubist version of the soldier in the figures shots.

Bark
by Alan Webb, on Flickr

On Rushmore Golf Course, beautiful parkland course with an iron gate between holes where it crosses the Dorset/Wiltshire border, lots of trees to be avoided. Some fabulous tree species to choose from. Here we are looking from Wiltshire to Dorset.

Looks like a big old tree, a good composition.
there seems to be a strange square shape on the left hand side in the sky

Lovely bark Alan :)

CoughCoughTechCoughCough :)
