A bit of fun - WORDLE. (NB, US spelling!) No spoilers please

4 for me. Used a brand new starter on my 3rd guess which left me (literally) no alternative - the 2 spaces left had to be the 2 yellows that were in the wrong place on guess 1!

4 for me too. yy, a brand new starter gave another y, a wrong guess eliminated 2 more candidates and I was almost giving up hope when the solution appeared as if by magic!

Hmm, I'm contemplating a new starter word.

The Universe is waiting for you to do that so that it can switch to a new selection of words to make your new starter useless :D:D:D:D

I used to use the same starter every day but now just think of a not too obscure 5 letter word with no doubled up letters. Has made as much difference as using good g*lf balls has made to the number I lose!!!

I think the only real choice is whether to use a ‘good’ starter with maximum vowels or ditto with max consonants. I haven’t tried but I’m inclined to think max consonants is the way since words are readable from consonants only so may present more possibles … ah, but then choices …

I know, I know. Thats what's stopping me.
The day I change I will miss my 1. when the word is Orate. :ROFLMAO:

Orate is a good one, I’ve been using it for a longish time.

5 for me this morning. And that was after a 3g second guess - the first 3 letters!!!

Simple. 3 today after an apparently poor first line with only one B consonant.

Mine was almost the polar opposite of yours. The first line gave me no vowels so I put a word in with the two missing ones and was left with only one possible word — SCOREDLE says there are three but it‘s other two suggestions are words I’ve never seen before!

A 4 today looked like it was going to be a tricky one after my first two guesses gave me 0, 1Y but my third guess gave me 2G and I had eliminated so many letters I could only think of two words that would fit and luckily, I chose the right one 5G.

4 for me today. Out of curiosity. Do you change your starter word. That could be why mine are mostly 4s 5s. I just pick something out of my head at the time.. it also doesn't help. I sometimes do it after I've woke up after 12 am and realise its new wordle day.. must get a life .ha

No, I use the same starting word every day. Sometimes if the starting word gets zero yellow or green, I have a backup second word so that I have covered the vowels ;)

I cheat (some consider) by using a starting word (ORATE, there are others) that is known to contain the commonest vowels and consonants in the WORDLE word list -- not necessarily the same as the commonest in American. ;)

I doesn’t seem to make a lot of difference!
