I have to admit it's one I use regularly.I got it in 4, but a word I've not for years before. I had to Google it!
Hmm, I'm contemplating a new starter word.4 for me too. yy, a brand new starter gave another y, a wrong guess eliminated 2 more candidates and I was almost giving up hope when the solution appeared as if by magic!
The Universe is waiting for you to do that so that it can switch to a new selection of words to make your new starter uselessHmm, I'm contemplating a new starter word.

I think the only real choice is whether to use a ‘good’ starter with maximum vowels or ditto with max consonants. I haven’t tried but I’m inclined to think max consonants is the way since words are readable from consonants only so may present more possibles … ah, but then choices …I used to use the same starter every day but now just think of a not too obscure 5 letter word with no doubled up letters. Has made as much difference as using good g*lf balls has made to the number I lose!!!
I know, I know. Thats what's stopping me.The Universe is waiting for you to do that so that it can switch to a new selection of words to make your new starter useless![]()
Orate is a good one, I’ve been using it for a longish time.I know, I know. Thats what's stopping me.
The day I change I will miss my 1. when the word is Orate.![]()
5 for me this morning. And that was after a 3g second guess - the first 3 letters!!!

I cheat (some consider) by using a starting word (ORATE, there are others) that is known to contain the commonest vowels and consonants in the WORDLE word list -- not necessarily the same as the commonest in American.4 for me today. Out of curiosity. Do you change your starter word. That could be why mine are mostly 4s 5s. I just pick something out of my head at the time.. it also doesn't help. I sometimes do it after I've woke up after 12 am and realise its new wordle day.. must get a life .ha
