According to a quick Google the 32Gb card will not be a problem in the D3100. On another note I agree with this upgradeitis that affects some camera owners, I "downgraded" to the smaller lighter D3100 as it does not feel like carrying a breeze block around. Folks bleat on about metal bodies...

All I can say is that I'm more than happy with my D3100. Video is really quite good too (I never thought I'd use it). I bought mine body only and use a 16-85mm Nikon lens that I had from when I thought (wrongly) that throwing money at photography would improve my shots. Great battery life too...

I have had the Sony HX9V for a while now and can definitely recommend it. Zoom results are really very good. It has many features that you may not use, such as GPS etc. but this can be easily turned off to extend battery life. The intelligent auto setting is brilliant too. All in all a well...

Sony DSC-HX9V can do both. USB lead supplied. It might not be quite small enough for you but it certainly fits in a jacket pocket. I'm very impressed with mine so far. See here for more details...

I have a Sony DSC-HX9V as a compact and am very pleased with it so far. No RAW but .jpeg's straight out the camera seem fine for my purposes, video mode is excellent too. Feels solidly made, so should take some rough handling. Zoom results surprisingly good also. IMHO...

I understand your dilemma, after reading many reviews I recently bought a Sony DSC- HX9V as my Ixus 400 has finally packed up. Reasons: Solidily built, good battery life, excellent image quality, 16x optical zoom etc. Not sure I'll use the GPS tagging or panorama but HD movie is good to have...

I can recommend the Sony DSC-HX9V, nice build quality and pictures. Around £190 after Sony £40 cashback, as seen on a website named after a long Brazilian river.

Yes if it's prefixed by AF-S It'll have an inbuilt motor and will work on your D3100. It will give an eqiuvalent FOV of 52.5mm on a cropped sensor.

You've got be careful as not all are compatible, even though they say they are. www.fotosense.co.uk have Nikon originals for £36.95 which I bought for mine.

Another very happy D3100 user here. I bought mine body only and just have my trusty AF-S 16-85mm with it. Very small, light and portable and pleased with the results so far :).
