Extremely slow loading for me, waitied for the first page to load (about 10 mins) then couldn't be bothered to wait anymore. Think you need a more reliable UK host. I am using broadband.
Yes it uses cookies to store what you have been looking at and when you visit a site that is run by the same ad network it displays these recently viewed items. Next seem to use it quite a lot, my girlfriend thought it was a sign from God when she saw the bag she had been looking at advertised...
I would suggest Joomla, its free (although you would need to purchase web hosting) and you can bolt on functionality if and when needed. You can have different user access so teachers could post news/ photos for example but studnets couldn't. You can also have different sections for year groups...
Matty you definately need to use an .htaccess file to do this as search engines will pass your page rank to your new domain/ page as search engines don't like javascript directs.
Create a blank file in notepad, add the line below and save as (make sure you choose 'save as type: All Files')...
All Flash webiste will have the meta data, Google and most other search engines do not use these in search results though (http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/keywords-meta-tag-in-web-search/ < Works at Google as a software Engineer) and haven't for years
