I bought the 60D earlier today. The first thing I did is press some buttons and instantly the DigitalRev video came to mind. I did chuckle as he is exactly right, feels like there is some sticky fluid under there. However it isn't really a problem, squishy buttons is not a deal breaker for me!

First off I think you acted appropriately with leaving the area before things got escalated. You possibly felt so bad about it because you couldn't really react and argue your innocence, just take solace that you left before things got too heated (it's never good to wait for anger to kick in)...

I bought the same lens this week and took my first test shots with it today in the garden. I struggled to get it sharp to be honest, perhaps I should have increased the ISO to allow a faster shutter speed. Here is the result from a quick 2 mins shooting a half dead flower in the garden:-

You could try finding your exact lens model on Amazon and then it should provide a link to a compatible lens hood, normally in the buy these 3 items for £*** section.

I'm very new to photography but I always shoot RAW shots also. The file sizes are huge but it forces me to frame the shot correctly so I don't waste space. It's also very helpful for beginners as you can tweak the exposure and white balance if you didn't get it exactly right during the shot.

I really like that low key shot. Nice contraption with the Pringles tube too!

Thanks! I really should play it more. It's flawless apart from a hairline scrape on the headstock. I was trying to clip a string with wire clippers, slipped off and scraped the paint. I nearly wept! Still unsure about the mod. I've come across it before and it sounded like too much effort...
