I'm not 100% on elements but in Photoshop you hold down the Alt or Opt key and the dialogue box at the bottom changes to RESET.
There should be a DEFAULT in blue at the top of the Basic Slider panel as well. Under the White Balance sliders.
Have you an example. Lightroom 3 should be able to sort it. I have shot 1600 iso at gigs and usually can reduce the noise without plug-ins.
I use CS6 and ACR as I find Lightroom 4 a bit clunky but they are the same as far as the software.
I'm waiting for Elements 10 to arrive so will have a look...
Bridge with Adobe camera raw and lightroom do exactly the same job. they use the same software engine and I use both but prefer Bridge with raw as I have used this method for years. its a case of learning the software. Mini Bridge in CS5 is even quicker once you get the hang of it.

Sorry guy's, I was just making a point that you use the tools that you are comfortable with.
I have to use all this stuff because of what I need to do.
I like the easiest way out so grab at anything that will do the job.
The only thing to know is there are so many ways of getting the job...
If you are going to print then use Highest quality no matter what the file size.
I know you can get away with a lot but untill you print them out you can't tell as you are seeing them at around 72 ppi on screen.
Once you have saved them at lower res then you loose a lot if you want to change...
One important thing Andy, what ever you do, Calibrate them as near as you can or it will drive you up the wall.:bang:
I found 2 19" square monitors are best for me, any larger or Wide screen does my old eyes no favours.:shake:
ACR and Bridge are a must for me as a pre restoration tool. Of course I use Photoshop for the manipulation but I browse all my files in bridge, I correct colour and do initial cropping in ACR and Also to bring some contrast to faded areas with the Graduated filter tool. I never Scan in old...
Just click on this 2nd monitor icon and choose what you want to show. ie: Loup, Grid etc. Hover over it and it will give tips what to do.
Once you use 2 moinitors you won't go back to single.
